How to get into a IM

I tried to sign up this morning for IM Florida (for my dad) but couldn’t get in fast enough. I’ve seen the community spots, but that’s a heck of a lot of money! Any other way?

Qualify at another race (but that list of qualifiers seemed to change a lot).

Sign up for the multisports.com camp/training/race entry. Though that’s about the same as a community fund spot, but at least you get something for the money.

Only two races(mdot that is) that have charity are arizona which has about 23 left and I guess florida will have some.

This year(bet they stick to it this time) they are back to what they tried to do last year but changed because it caught everyone off guard so they posted it early is
half ironman florida in orlando may 21 I think and ralphs half in ocianeside,ca march 21 again I think have 50 spots for each of the North America sports races(they are now called that not ironman north america)
Plus a few canadian races have spots but not for florida I think.

As mentioned you can sign up for training plus race entry or camp plus race entry or all 3 at multisports.com as well 1300 bucks and up.

about 500 or 550 of the charity spot is deductable assumeing you have enough to itemize the multisports stuff is not deductable…

So you spend (depending on where you live) 1500 bucks up to travel to a qualifier and race and hopefully get a spot(usually first come first serve unless more than 50 show up after race for each spot) or
you do the camp(which if you go to the camp will cost you more as well) or the training(might be better now cost and you get a training plan if your into that.
