I’ve done it 2 ways. Currently I use an xlab stealth pocket 100 right behind the stem. I can fit (barely) a tube, CO2 cartridge, micro-inflator head, 2 tire levers, and a mini multi-tool in it. If I want to use that stem bag for a few gels instead, I then would put the flat kit under my saddle. First I place the tube up in between the rails. Then I velcro the other items (strapped together) just under the tube. The velcro strap goes up over the tube and rails. Holds it all together nicely. Either method takes some time tinkering with space to get optimal fit and keeping it secure in the case of under the saddle.
Perhaps I’m missing something but is there any reason for not using a wedge bag? some of the smaller ones will hole CO2, inflator, quik stik, innertube and a couple tire boots and still not much more than taping the tube to the bottom of the seat.
I need to put a sticky number around my seat post and think it would nterfere with a wedge bag. I do have a small bag that straps to the top tube and stem…too geeky or a better option?
Bundled together and Velcro’d to the saddle between the rails is the go-to. If I need gels too, I usually tape the gels to the top tube, then stick them under the leg band of my bibs once I get going.

Ahh, a bento box. Depending on the distance chances are most of the people out there will have one on their bike.
Ah. Somehow I thought a bento box was larger, but you’re quite right. It’s a sprint so no need for gels, etc. but perhaps a convenient place to stash my stuff in the event using Velcro to hold it to the saddle rails isn’t successful. It sounds as though it might take practice to get that right.
If it is a sprint, consider going without the extra stuff.
If you flat, that 5 minutes to change it will ruin your race anyway. Is your primary goal to compete or complete?
For a sprint just take one bottle, you really don’t need two. Also, I wouldn’t take a spare, but if you must, bundle lt together as compact as you can and tape it to the saddle. You can use a jersey with a back pocket and just put it in there at t1. Don’t over think it.
If you’re not worried about being competitive at this point just use the wedge bag you already have and instead of putting the number on the seat post, put it on your top tube along the seat tube so it doesn’t interfere with your legs.

It’s true that you’re competitive day is over, but having a spare stops you from having to walk your way back in or ride on a flat. I always keep a spare just in case.
