I assume you never do but I guess I should ask. I have a Stinger 9 tubular that I glued a tire on it when I purchased almost 2 years ago. I only used for a couple of races and couple of training sessions. So has less than 400 miles on it. I assume it is fine and no need to re-glue as long as it is on there well.
I do leave the tire deflated most of the time. The tire is stored inside my house. Thanks for any help.
Before I put new tires on my Stingers, the old ones were on for 3 years without issues. They were a bitch to get off so I assume the glue was still good to go. I left them deflated and in my basement fyi.
Nothing wrong with the old tires (Conti Competitions). I was prepping for IM so I made sure I had a fresh set on. Went with Vittoria Corsa EVO cx’s based on Jackmott’s recommendations.
I re-glue annually. I used to not worry about it, but after I saw a guy roll a tire and take a nasty spill on 2 year old glue I’ve made it part of my ‘off season’ maintenance plan.
My set of racing wheels currently has 4 year old glue. I think a year I ago I took it to the bike shop and asked the guy if it needed to be re-glued. He examined the glue job and told me he didn’t think so. My total race milage in the last four years is under 500 miles. Its ultimately going to be a function of: the glue, the glue job, amount of use on tire, and the shearing forces present during your rides.
I will say… I am probably going to get mine re-glued here in the next week or so. Just hearing about someone rolling a tire gets me a bit more motivated.
