I’m headed on vacation in a few weeks. I found a local shop that rents bikes for $35 a day. That price seems a little steep to me, especially considering that it’s not for a race, just a casual training ride. Is this a reasonable rate? How much would you pay to rent a bike for the day?
I think I’ve paid that before to rent an old road bike. You could put a lot of miles in during one day…rolling along the beach for an hour probably wouldn’t be such good value. The real questions are what type of bike? What condition is it in? Will it fit? What pedals?
I second that. All depends on what kind of bike and what purpose. We will start renting Cervélos in Phuket in May for serious training rides. Rental will be in that range as well.
It’s $35. If the bikes are in a condition you were wanting and it will make your vacation better then why not. I figure it’s kind of like an aquarium or something similar. Of course it’s expensive and maybe costs more than it should but there’s no other place to get that sort of entertainment under the circumstances so you go ahead and pay it and have a good time. Done deal.
