Race weight typically in the 170’s
training hard = low 170’s
so so training = high 170’s
offseason weight 185-190 when being sensible
200 ish like a couple of years ago = too many doughnuts
BTW 6-3 and 32 y/o
.
Maybe 10 pounds, 150 -160. Heaviest I’ve ever been was 167.
160 up to 168
I am trying new training foods, and Cytomax, so hopefully this will stabilize my weight a bit.
I find it difficult to maintain 160, but I am fastest at that weight (I am 6’)
Race shape - low 160s. After the holidays I can get up close to 180. I tell myself every year to not gain the weight, but I always do. Then I have to work hard to get it off. I really think if I could get into the low 150s I could race faster.
Don
i’m 6’1" on form 163lbs not so fit 168/170.
bikedude…
In race shape 155,
during the winter 163.
My weight varies by 2-3 lbs over the course of the week, I am normally heaviest on Monday and lightest on Friday.

Same but a 5-7 pound swing. De-watering occurs on Thursday nights.
I was 189lbs last Feb. and weighed in at 168lbs for the ironman last week. Funny how those 6 hour rides take off that Christmas turkey/rum and egg nog/hibernation pounds
The tour commentators would call me undisciplined in the offseason like Jan Ullrich!
Wow Franko, dude you’re small!
I had my biggest fluctuation this past year… I was up to 183 after Christmas (figures!) And I definitely had some extra lovin’ there. I got down to 165 for my A race and now i’m stable at about 170-174 depending on the week. I’d like to stay below 175 even in the coldest of winter months. I believe it was rather hard on me to have to lose that much weight.
P.S. My girlfriend had a month long work term in Europe… When she got off the plane (rigth after my A race) Her quote was… “Have you been eating?” Personally, I like the arm veins! ![]()
Wow, that is like an 11% fluctuation in weight. That strikes me as excessive. Any way to moderate that? That has to be hard on your body.
5’11 45yo
Normal light training - 165 lbs
Previous race weight - 158 lbs
Current weight after training for upcoming IMFL - 152 lbs.
Never expected to get this light and tight. Same weight and waist size (30) as high school. I think my wife digs the new look.
164cm (5’5", male, 30s)
51kg (114lb) - during the marathon training months back in 1999-2000
53kg (117lb) - last winter/spring. Mostly in riding; not too much running.
193-198 lbs (88-90 kgs) depending on the time of day. 6’7" (200cm) tall
Feb-Oct I usually weight 165-172lbs depending on what I am training for. Usually in Dec-Jan I creep up to reach 180lbs from lifting weights. That stops the first week of Jan and then I am back down to normal weight.
I am 5’9". Typically I race around 152, in the winter time I am around 158. The highest I have been was 165 (exclusively weight lifting / body building for 2 years) and the lowest I have been was 136 (exclusively running for 2 years).
In-season weight is probably 154-157. Off-season is probably 160-165 (too much beer).

There is a great way to moderate that…and a simple way. Consistent exercising and eating only until I am no longer hungry rather than just eating for pleasure.
I tend to turn to food when I get stressed or depressed - which lately seems to be a lot.
Many times putting on the running shoes is that last thing I want to do, but I have to remind me how it feels afterwards.
A lot less than it used to. But my training is more consistent.
In my 20s: I was between 150 and 180 a couple times.
Now, in my 30s, I am always between 149 and 158. Normally 151-153.
