How many pairs of stuff do u have?

do u need more than 1 pair of cycling shorts, 1 pair of running shorts, 1 pair of running shoes, 1 pair of cycling shoes?

My socks and bike shorts aren’t quite dry the next day after a good workout. I would hate to have to put on sweaty stuff. Not to mention that you would shorten the life of your stuff by only having one pair. I would also like to go back to having two pairs of training running shoes, but never seem to get around to it.

Da Bum

I have at least 4 pair of running shoes, well actually counting racing flats about 6-7 pair. When your running 2x day sometimes 2-3 days in a row I just rotate through them. i also find that some feel better on fast days and some feel better on longer or slower days.
Several pair of cycling shorts from a previous sponsor.
tons of socks for the shoes as well

One is never enough and remember: if some is good, more is better and too much is just enough…

So, let’s see:
Running shoes: 6 pair
Bike shoes: Sidi Genius, Sidi ENergy, DMT R3 tri, Shimano TRO1 Tri, Time CX Iron (to go with my HED CX wheels).
Bikes: Trek 5200 road, Stealth BP-2 tri
Helmets, 2 Boreas, 4 Pneumo
Bike Jerseys: Approx 25
Bike Shorts: Approx 15
Tri Shorts: 9
Tri Singlets: 8
Racing (short course) tanks: 4
One piece tri suits: Only one, because they don’t fit me very well.

Ya gotta have style…

do u need more than 1 pair of cycling shorts, 1 pair of running shorts, 1 pair of running shoes, 1 pair of cycling shoes?

2 cycling shorts (1 bib, 1 regular)

1 pair bike shoes

2 pairs running shoes (one size 11 with orthotics; one size 10.5 without). They go in the Goodwill box when I’m done with them.

Probably 3 pairs of running shorts in regular rotation. I could get rid of another 3-4 that I never wear.

Similarly, I have 4 running shirts that see all the action, and another 3-4 that I never wear and should get rid of.

1 pair shades; 2 hats; 4 visors (I like visors). 1 fuel belt and 8 bottles.

Somewhere deep in the bottom drawer is a race belt, some Butt Butt’r and a bottle of salt tabs. Oh, and round bandaids for my nips.

If you plan on riding back to back days, you need more than 1pr of cycling shorts. NEVER ride in the same shorts 2x in a row (without washing them).

The rest you can probably get away with, but a 2nd pair of running shorts and a few tops help too.

Cycling shoes, Sidi T1 and Sidi Dynamic (for colder days.

2 pair of cycling shorts and 2 pair of tri shorts.

1 pair of running shorts but I hate them. I run in my tri shorts.

2 pair of running shoes cuz I’m changing from one to another. I normally only have 1 pair that I run consistantly in.

8 cycling jerseys from the last 4 or 5 years.

No tri suits, that’s something that I want to try soon.

2 bikes, 1 GIOS Road bike from 1985 and a Felt s32.

3 helmets. 1 old bell that I use in cold weather and has pads removed so I can wear a hat underneath. 1 bell moutain helmet cuz I thought it looked cool. 1 Giro Eclipse, new for this year.

2 wetsuits. 1 Ironman full suit I bought off Ebay and really don’t like, used for cold water. 1 Aquaman sleevless that I absolutly love to swim in.

I have 2 pairs of running shorts (one tights and one real running shorts). 1 cool-max-type running shirt, 2 running tops (no sleeves), 2 bike shorts, 1 cycling shirt.

1 Pair of racing ‘flats’, 1 pair of pure running shoes, and one pair of walking shoes (same as my running shoes but these are the do-everything-with pair).

1 Pair of cycling shoes (that need a new insole).

I have:

At least one dozen pairs of running shoes, plus a large plastic box full of running shoes out in the garage.

6 pairs of bike shoes.

Two wet suits.

Four bikes.

About two dozen pairs of running/biking socks.

One Computrainer.

One PowerTap Standard.

Four sets of wheels. (I’m a slacker in this department.)

Two Polar HR monitors.

One Speedo swim monitor.

About 10 pairs of swim goggles and many more swim caps.

Over 200 race shirts.

At least 7 pairs of bike shorts.

Five pairs of running shorts.

Four tri suits.

Six skin suits.

Four spare tubular tires.

Six spare clincher inner tubes.

4 CO2 cartridges.

etc., etc.

Dude, you have no idea how bad we really are.

I am bad bad bad

Bike Shoes - 6 pair of Time Equipe, 2 are still new in boxes unworn. I have a 2 pair for rain (one may be wet from the day before) one every day pair, one pair that looks really good (race shoes). The other two will come from the box’s when they are called to duty.

Running Shoes - 8 pair of Mizuno Wave Riders (3 still in boxes) and 4 pair of Mizuno Wave Phantoms (2 in the box)

2 Wet Suits (one Orca, one Quintanna Roo)

4 matching blue speedos from the pool (in rotation of some odd manner)

6 pair of Aquasphere goggles

I even have Extra Time Titan Mag pedals…you know just in case. I stock at my home 4-5 Campy chains, campy cables, tires, tubes, Gu, multiple Giro Boreas and Atmos helmets…I think I have a problem…

Elwood,

I have been in bike shops that have less inventory than you have!

That’s quite the collection.

Fleck

“That’s quite the collection.”

    • It’s an obsession. If I can’t go fast, at least I can look fast…

Right on, bro’

Can you help me out? I need to convince my girl that I need two more bikes.

Amazing!

I think that the posters here on this thread are singal handidly and collectivly keeping the tri and bike businesess going.

I raced/trained for years at a high level with sponsor support and never had as much gear as some of these guys.

What on earth do you do with 6 pairs of cycling shoes - two still in boxes? That’s over a $1,000 wrapped up in JUST cycling shoes. Wow!

What I do is buy it and wear it when my wife isn’t looking. Then after it’s washed and she says: “Is that another new tri suit?” I say: “What? This old thing?”

With new bike parts I just quickly install them and hide the old parts in the garage. Wheels are tougher and require extensive pre-purchase pleading, begging, whining, etc. That’s probably why I only have 4 sets of wheels.

Bwuahahahahahaha!

I don’t have as much stuff as the other people but here goes

2 bikes: 1 raleigh r500 with clip ons, 1 used mountain bike (miyata, my first ever bike, and it has bolts to hold on the wheels and weighs 50+ lbs, not confirmed by a scale though)

4 bike shoes: 1 nike poggio 1, 1 Sidi T1, Nike YVS(something like that) spd, and Pearl Izumi SPD shoe

3 running shoes: my current Asics, an old exact same pair Asics, and my OLD OLD New balance which have been retired to become trail shoes like they were originally intended.

4 cycling shorts, one of them baggy, only used when I am on my mountain bike which is never

4 cycling jerseys

2 tri shorts, one old RNH, not too great, i might have to repair it, but was not made too great to begin with. One HIND, which is awesome

1 speedo tri top which I shouldn’t use anymore. I kind of want the TSR jersey but I’m debating about that bishop thing on it

1 TYR Trisuit which I used for my half iron which was fine. I guess it’s ok kuz I don’t pee too much in races.

2 polar HRMs, an old polar beat, bought when it was 80 bucks, and a polar accurex plus which I got on clearance for 50 bucks with almost a dead battery (which I replaced myself easily)

2 pairs of running shorts.

I have one '99 quintana roo sleeveless wetsuit

1 Bell Furio and 1 old Cheap Bell helmet

Up in New England you gotta have the gear to train year round… yeah that’s why I need all this stuff… honest…

Giant TCR road bike outfitted with short aero bars for Tris. Mavic CPX22/105 wheels for winter/commuting & Ksyriums for summer/racing.

GT iDrive Team mountain bike, 2 sets of wheels (training vs racing)

Shoes - Lake Tri shoes, Northwave centurion road, Northwave Team mountain.

Helmets - 1 Bell cheapo w/o pads for winter, 1 giro E2 for normal use

Running shoes - 4 pairs road training in varying degrees of depreciation, 1 pair road racing, 1 pair trail racing

Clothes- 3 prs Bike shorts, 4 tri shorts, 4 tri shirts, 1 bike jersey, 8-10 running dri-fit shirts, 3 running shorts, approximately 9,000 pairs of socks, none of which match.

Bike gloves for winter, spring, summer, fall, mountainbike in winter, mountain bike in summer, running in winter, running in spring/fall.

Xterra Vortex sleeveless wetsuit, 2 pairs Tyr socket rockets, zoomers swim fins, speedo paddles, 2 pairs jammer swim trunks.

Most prized possession – 25 race t-shirts that I barely wear.

You know you’re committed when your bike costs more than your car. Or is it you should BE committed, I keep forgetting.

everyone forgot to put in the Partridge in a Pear Tree LOL
.

Fleck:

Sidi, Time, Carnac, Shimano and Nike could all go bankrupt on the same day! Sheezh… Then where would you be?

I have one old pair of 1980’s vintage sidi shoes. One pair of the Carnac Tri model. One pair of Northwestern for every day riding. One pair of Shimano with Look cleats. One older pair of Carnac Legends with spd cleats for my one bike with spd pedals. And, one pair of beat up old Shimano shoes also with Look cleats, but I could throw those away if I weren’t an anal pack rat.

It is interesting now that I think about it. Why do I keep multiples of everything I need for training and racing? I know I’m a piker compared to a lot of guys too. I remember a guy with 8 bikes on his garage wall. If something new came out he had it before the ads hit the newspapers. I don’t think I ever saw him in the same jersey twice. <sniff, sniff, what a guy!>

-Robert

cool. I feel less dorky for thinking about buying a third pair of cycling shoes. But for me its also an expensive experiment in fit. I buy shoes at the end of the day and they feel great. 3 hrs into a ride, I start feeling agonizing pain on certain areas etc. And yes, I do get the cleats installed properly with a fit kit thingamajig.

I second the get at least another pair of shorts for each sport. Just think of the bacteria man… you do not want “male itch”… wash it HOT, wash it LOTS.

how many pairs of socks do I have? too many. Keep misplacing them. If I buy the same socks, chances are pretty good I’ll find a matching one quickly.
