I do. And I have it mostly in a road set-up (as far as seat position). No problems with the lower back.
Wheels? Tri-spokes front and rear. If it’s really windy, I’ll go with a low-spoke-count front wheel.
I currently ride a Giant TCR1 Composite with clip-ons, only because I can’t afford to buy a tri-bike. I also can’t afford race wheels so I just ride my Ksyriums. Lots of wheels I’m droolin over though.
I like the versatility of having a road bike. Can race tri or do road races if I wish. With that in mind, I’ll probably get some race wheels and they will likely be something that I can use in a variety of races (Spinergy Tilium, 404’s, Alps…)
Colnago Master Light X with Mavic Cosmic Elite wheels 20 bladed spokes: front- Radial lacing rear Radial non drive side cross two on drive side.
Rode my Soloist on the weekend TT with Syntace streamliners (pads fliped backwards) 28 spoke Alex rims with DA hubs. Seat post in road position. Worked fine for a 10m TT (possibly up to 40km), not sure I want to ride this for more than 40km. If I had a deep dish and a disc I would have used it!
I did ride a Giant TCR with with small size Syntace C2’s. Wheels were either a Campy Shamal or Hed Jet 60 front with CH Aero disc cover on Mavic GL330/DuraAce tubular for a rear. Worked very well.
I’ve ridden my Prodigy with clip ons and a 909 setup for a hilly tri.
Even though I have a tri-specific bike, I’ve also put aero bars on my road bike. I like being able to go aero on the flat parts during century rides and especially enjoy having my aero bottle in front to make hydration much easier. I use the Profile Airstryke because the pads flip up to let you reach the top of your bars. Some of my roadie friends give me a hard time about having clip ons but they usually shut up when it’s time to hammer on the flats.
I probably ride 75% road races and 25% triathlons. Being a college student and all, I just use my Trek 5500 and the Rolf Vector Pro wheels that came with it. Maybe once I save up enough money, I’d love to get a Carbon Soloist with some Zipp Wheels.
I just ordered some Vision Mini TT’s for my Super Prodigy. I am really against turning this thing into a “dork rocket” but I’ll claim they’re for climbing…
It just makes no sense to fight the wind the way I do when my arms are spread on the hoods.
Colnago C40, Nimble Crosswinds for racing. My clip-ons are Profile Jammer GT hardware with Hed s-bend extensions mounted below the bar and arm pad plates behind the bar. My stem is long enought so that my knees don’t hit while climbing out of the saddle.
I bought the Crosswinds for a tri bike a few years ago; when the frame failed, they went to the C40 (along with the Zipp carbon cranks).
Trek 5200, Deda Clip-Blacks, Ksyrium SSC. Hang on a minute. Shouldn’t this be on the ‘Dirty Secrets’ thread?
Serotta Nove— small c-2 ultra lite going to HED carbon s bends with H3’s.
I am set up for IMLP and mooseman- potenitally silverman if I am so motivated.
I do, for training and short course draft legal tris.
QR 0 Gravity with home made clip ons
reynolds front, renn madeira disc at the back. if its a uphill tri then i’ll use a reynolds pair (yes i meant to say uphill triathlons)
Litespeed Siena w/ Profile Jammer CGT bars. It took over a year, but I finally feel like I’ve got the bar position dialed in. I will give the Profile s-bends a try when I see them around.
I haven’t sprung for race wheels yet, because really, who am I kidding?
I did go sort of higher-end on my “training wheels” with Campy Eurus, so I race on those. I think they’re awesome.
I have a Giant carbon TCR which I use with deda clip ons this bike is designed purely for very hilly/technical tri’s (It’s my stint at the age group european champs later this year).
Weight has been reduced as much as possible. I have kysrium SSC’s for really hilly stuff but I also have a set of Cosmics which I find although heavy accelerate much better. Due to me using campag throughout i can drop some lightweight disc or corima aero front into the mix if i want to as well…
My road ride is a '01 Specialized S-works SL and I put some carbon stryke’s on there last year. I’m probably going to sell the stryke’s and get something shorter, as they don’t really work for my shorter arms. I have 700cc wheels - Spinergy X-Aero’s. It’s a nice looking, comfy ride.

I ride a 2004 Specialized Allaz Elite with Oval Short Slam bars. The combination works quite well given what I have to work with. I do a lot of group training and riding, so having both option in terms of aerobars and hoods is ideal.
Merlin Agilis with Oval “slam” bars.
Have a set of HED Jet 60’s for race wheels. Use the bike for hilly races and train on it w/o the race wheels (use Mavics) most of the time.
Have tri bikes - Griffen and Merlin Aerial for other i.e. flat races.

I do. Mini clip ons.
