How many of you guys are actually going

…to buy one? A P3C that is.

With all the enthusiasm it makes me wonder. To me it’s a very nice bike, but since I’m not buying one ASAP these posts do seem a bit over done unless there’s a lot of genuine buyers out there.

So let’s have a roll call. Speak up if you’re coughing up for a new P3C.

Hmmm…112 miles in 15 mph for 2K or 15.1 for 4K…nope not me.

I can’t even afford to buy a Dual!!! The P3C is WAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYY out of my reach.

Oh and am I the only one that thinks the P3 just isn’t that “good looking” of a bike? If I had 4-5K to plunk down without ending up divorced there are several other bikes I find more aestheticly pleasing.

~Matt

I already bought one for myself.

Count me in. I’m a dope for hot bikes. I’m selling my perfect condition 2004 P3 for the Carbon. I’m a graduate student, and so I don’t have a lot of money. But I have basically no living expenses. And, in a year or so when my girl and I get out of school and get jobs and get married, there will be more money, but expenses will be higher as well, and she’ll have a lot more say on how the money is spent. So I figure, get it now!!!

Edit: I’m selling my mountain bike and my P3 to pay for the carbon. With my IM training, I just wasn’t going to ride the mountain bike in for quite a while.

I like the bike, but I’m not going to get one. I actually wouldn’t even consider it if I were in the market. (Carbon being unproven and all!! Kidding.) I really want to get a new road bike and a track bike though. I honestly don’t see myself getting a new tri bike for a very long time unless mine gets horribly damaged.

My engines not big enough for my Dual yet. Also I seriously doubt i could comfortable ride a P3 carbon or not.

I can’t say I will get one… at least any time soon… and I’m actually looking at a few different carbon tri-bikes (Lucero, Kestrel Airfoil Pro, in addition to P3), but I’d like to… and if I can convince the wife to let me, I just might do so. FWIW, I think it’s a pretty sharp-looking bike.

I already bought one for myself.

but of course! the pro-deal (ie for LBS employees) from cervélo is too good to pass up!

Not in the market, but if I were, it’d be the Lucero. Very sexy bike!

It will be interesting to see if/how the P3C affects sales of P3 alus.

The “image” of a P3A must have taken a hit, now that it is no longer the “best” bike in the Cervelo line. Has Cervelo now made the P3A “obsolete” perception-wise? From what I can gather, perception (which is the likely purchase decision maker for 50% of the market) is that the P3C is now the topof the line. So by implication that means that the P3A is not the top dog (the difference being the material…but that is covered in another thread or 100…)

So will the people who want to ride the “top of the line” no longer want the P3A, if they can’t have a (buy or afford) P3C? Will they migrate to other bikes? Will sales of the P3A go down less than sales of the P3C goes up (particularly due to limited supply)? Classic marketing situation in the making.

This is why there are Mercuries, Pontiacs and Buicks.

Yep I have a 58 on order…taking over from the Blade, so has a tough act to follow but hoping it should surpass it
.

I don’t think it’ll be that big of a deal. The P2K has done pretty darn well in the “shadow” of the P3. I still think the P3 SL is one hell of a bike. Sure the sales may come down, but I but it’ll still be a popular bike.

Ummm. You may want to call Cervelo on this. I was not aware of any “pro” deal or discount program and have not received one.

What is the “pro” deal discount?

I gather that he means wholesale, as I am guessing how you purchase all of the bikes you sell.

FYI - Cervelo does offer pro deal discounts. Cervelo doesn’t sponsor AG athletes directly. Rather, they get ‘sponsored’ by local shops who carry Cervelo and pass on a special pricing plan to the athletes. When I was psonsored, the deal was roughly 40-50% off.

As between the Lucero, Kestrel and P3C, I would assume that the Kestrel’s seattube-less design would make it the most aero of the three - any data or opinions? Is the P3C identical in geometry to the P3 (carbon version of the same bike)?

I’ll be taking delivery of one soon as well. After finishing graduate school and working for half a year but being taxed as if I’d worked the whole year, my refund is being blown on a new bike that I don’t really need. Perfectly acceptable in my eyes, less so in my girlfriend’s.

Tom

I don’t think it is any more aero or any more comfortable than my Softride Power V which is also in carbon. I know that my softride is heavier (static weight), but the p3 is not a bike you buy for light weight. You buy it for aerodynamics and it would be a step down in aerodynamics for me.

I’m with you. It looks kind of dorky to me.
