Ordered a couple of bottles of tubeless sealant but Amazon sent them to my daughter at college. She won’t be home for a few weeks so will order a couple more bottles. Should I return the ones sent to her or will the sealant be okay if I leave them in the bottles until next season?
I’ve got sealant from 2016 that I still use.
I use Truckerco Cream sealant that I buy in a jug… it lasts me for years. It’s a similar formula I believe, latex and small chunks of rubber.
Opening and closing the jug a few times a year to pull out what I need in a syringe, never noticed it being any different. Definitely seems to last longer in the sealed container even after it has been opened vs. in a tire for whatever reason. I recently noticed one of my road tires had a wobble when on the bike stand… sealant had made a big latex booger in the wheel. It’s been a year or less that I mounted that tire… but I digress.
That said Amazon has pretty easy returns, if it’s something you really don’t need until next year… just return it to be safe. Maybe one of the bottles isn’t sealed well and you’ve got a congealed bottle of latex next year?
From Stan’s website:
Stan’s Sealant does not have an expiration date and will last many years in the bottle. Sealant bottles should be kept tightly sealed, and stored in a cool, dry place. Sealing crystals can settle, so be sure to shake the bottle thoroughly before use.
I give mine a shake anytime I am in the workshop to keep it mixed. It lasts over a year.
Thanks all, I’ll keep them and order some new ones.
