How long do spare tubulars stay stretched?

So, since I’m new to the tubular deal. I have a spare TUFO that I stretched out for 24 hours. I then applied a layer of Conti cement before a race. Will it stay stretched? How long?

did you mount it? I usually put my tubies on a spare rim, pump them up and leave them for a week or so before glueing. I’ve had tufo’s that have been off a wheel for 6 months and put them back on no problem.

Oops! Well, I hope that 24 hours was long enough. I hand stretched a new one before I put it one the rim for inflation (got it from Trisports during the sale last week for the Renn I hope to get???) and it went one easily. I guess I’d better do some hand stretching a few times, so I don’t get stuck if I flat.???

By the way…

I’ve also applied a layer of conti cement to the base tape of my spare tubes. Now I wonder how I should carry these pre-glued tubes with me, should I protect the base tape somehow (because of dirt or just to prevent the base tape of sticking together when folding)?

I’ve been told 2 different things. A coach told me to put a strip of wax paper between the folded sides of the tube cloth. LBS said just let it dry and put the two sides together.

Anyone have any recommendations??
