My favorite part of this is his whining like a little bitch at sentencing. He says the confinement is torture-good! This coming from a guy that tortured and murdered a lot of people.
I also love the panicked look in his eyes in the video footage when he realized he was in the US. They didn’t tell him the real destination for obvious security concerns. Great stuff.

On our local news last night (Denver) they interviewed a few Florence residents. One a young Hispanic woman, who seemed to talk of El Chappo as if he was good-bad guy, like a modern day Billy the Kid. A weird affectionate vibe.

I think he did take care of a lot of people in the area that cartel is from, kind of like the mafia back in the day taking care of the neighborhood. Seem to remember seeing that in some documentary or TV show.

They were taking about this on my commute in this morning on talk radio. Apparently the supermax in Florence ain’t frontin no games. 24 hours a day in your own cell, never get out for any reason. Have a 4 inch sliver of a window to the outside world with only view of the sky. A concrete bed, concrete toilet and shower head right next to your bed. There is a concrete wall in front of the cell that has to be opened to even get in the cell.
Sounds like you literally have zero contact with any human or the outside world. Seems like a great place to go crazy. He won’t ever get out.

He’s not wrong. The conditions at Florence are torture. He will be unrecognizable as a human being within a year. You can feel that is not only fine, but good, because he tortured and murdered a lot of people. But, it’s worth at least noting in passing that our justice system is not an eye for an eye and there is at least nominally a Const. prohibition against cruel and unusual punishment.

Cause the bible says though shalt not kill, but doesn’t say though shall not lock someone up in a concrete block with no human contact for decades.

Because it costs millions and millions more to kill a guy than life imprisonment, he is not worth our tax dollars.
And it is less humane to put him in a cell for life, so a more fitting retribution for all the lives he took, and families he ruined. This is not rehabilitation, it is punishment at this level…
You’re only in your cell for 23 hours, one hour is for “outside†time. Of course outside consists of a 20 by 20 foot enclosure open to the sky. Again completely by yourself.

We believe in rehabilitation, until you leave the prison, then we wont hire you or allow you to do things, cause you were bad… It really is a strange system. We yell and scream about capital punishment but putting in a concrete block and no one cares.
