How long after a bite of cake were you running again?

Typically takes me 30-45 minutes for my stomach to calm down enough to run comfortably. Probably longer if it’s cheesecake.

Post your experience and be sure to specify what type of cake it was.

I typically use cake as a gel replacement for during workout food. I pack a nice wedge in the bento box and take a few bites every 30 minutes or so. I also put milk in my downtube bottle (skim milk- I find that anything stronger is too much fat for me). It’s a refreshing combination. Normally, I also pack a spoon but lately I find myself just digging in with my fingers. The tendency is choc cake with vanilla frosting or Vanilla cake with choc frosting. I like the contrast.

Glad to hear this. People who eat cake with the same flavor icing as the cake can’t be trusted.

I no longer run after a bite of cake. I had too many eat & run accidents !

I prefer cupcakes. I find they fit nicely into my bottle cages and the smaller size gets me running more quickly. Got to think about that transition time. favorite is a chocolate cake with chocolate chip cookie dough baked in, with vanilla frosting and more chocolate chips on top.

Well the title is misleading because, honestly, who as EVER had just one bite of cake? Well unless one was able to eat a whole piece in one bite, and if that is the case then I believe that person should be making money with that talent and not on ST. So for me, I have used cake as a mental healing tool in which case I would wait at least 2 hours to ensure that the cake is not lost on said run. But I try to use cake as a recovery tool if I have some. It makes that run have more quality when I realize I have 500 calories, or 1000 depending on size, of recovery fuel waiting for me at home. And if I were to choose a cake I would pick a vanilla cake with a chocolate frosting. It is pure goodness.

If you pee on yourself immediately, the pain from the cake bite will go away in about 10 to 15 minutes. If you pee on somebody else, you may experience pain for 10 to 15 years. Rumor has it, it’s tough to run with ankle monitor though.

I have had good success with tres leches cake in my BTA. The near liquid consistency and large straw on my PD bottle make tres leches my preferred race cake. As for a training cake, chocolate in the winter transitioning to vanilla when the weather turns warm. Or, I will put a pancake in my jersey pocket on an early morning ride.

A guy ran fast at IM Florida with cake all over his legs…
