How flat is the Lorient WC bike course?

Do any of you have first hand knowledge of the ITU WC LD bike course in Lorient France?
With the race ~ a month away, my wife is considering moving to a tighter
cassette if the course is as flat and fast as it appears from 3000 miles away.

Thanks for any informed replies,

Hugh

I don’t have first hand knowledge, I have heard it is pretty flat, but possibly quite windy, with one small hill at the far turnaround point.

I’ve put what I think is the course into gmap-pedometer here:

The course is flat as a pancake. I heard thought it can get quite windy there but a tighter cassette is still a good choice. I’m taking 11-21 with no regrets.

Much thanks for the replies! It looks like a 12-21 will come with us.

The waves are spaced 2mins apart on a two loop course. It’s going to be a rehash of Clearwater 06. :frowning:

Last year was REALLY bad with a lot of drafting. Not close to clearwater because less entrants, but it was very bad.

As for the winds, well, it’s Brittany…you can expect a relatively calm day with 10-15mph winds, or a really bad day, and you’ll be holding on your aerobars pretty tight.

There’s a course profile in the Juin newsletter (in French only) :
