How fast can you drive on I-70 in Kansas without getting a ticket. I saw the speed limit is 70mph. What’s up with that? Most rural states are 75mph. I am considering doing KS70.3 but its a long drive from CO.
Um…the speed limit? Really, is this a trick question?
Yes- It’s a long drive, but It’s downhill with the wind at your back. Tinley and a few others use to ride from Boulder east to see how far he could get in one day. Not sure how far they made it into Kansas, but I’m sure he got at least 1/2 way to Lawrence. Z

You do realize that gas economy goes down at an exponential rate for anything over 65, correct?
That being said, you can drive whatever speed you think won’t get picked off by radar. Suck in behind a semi and draft, that’s what a buddy and I did driving back to Co from NY one summer (Camp counselors…)

There is a 10 mph buffer, so if you get a ticket going say 78 mph it wont go on your record. It will cost you the ticket. A move to raise the limit to 75 mph lost out 2 years ago because with a 10 mph buffer, truckers could feasably drive 85 mph. That was considered dangerous. An amendment to reduce the buffer lost out.
I’ve always followed the saying that I heard from my uncle (a sheriff) “9 you’re fine, over you’re mine” So going 9 mph over the speed limit is where I set the cruise.

Except on I-10 west of San Antonio, where I got a warning for going 83 in an 80 mph zone on my way to IM AZ in 2007.
To the OP, the drive isn’t THAT far. Just set your cruise to 74-75 and go. You’ll probably be fine.

I’m driving out from Summit County and hoping we can do it in 10 hours.
Planning on heading out after work on Thursday, any advice on a just past halfway point between Denver and lawrence to stay and get a a short ride in Friday morning?
Get a good radar detector and drive whatever the hell speed your balls can withstand. Just bear in mind the carbon footprint.
I did 150 mph going West, from KS to CO but I think it’s still posted 75 going East. Good Luck
As fast as you want - if you’re following someone with a jammer (and don’t get tagged by laser or air…). Fastest trip from Overland Park to Denver was 7ish (maybe a little on the 6:55ish side)…driving an Prelude VTEC following a BMW land yacht (745). Think we held 115 - 120 mph for about an hour solid. Don’t recommend it on a regular basis though, and I don’t think the sweat stains are totally out of that t-shirt yet…
That is chalked up to foolish/stupid things we did in school and survived.
