How do you use your Coros Watch?

I got a Coros Pace 2 watch in the fall. I quickly realized it generates a ton of data so I decided to use it just as an activity tracker to start. Now that I’m putting next year’s training plan together I’m curious if I should use it for more than just a tracker. Does anyone load their training plan or specific workouts? I only use the watch and app now, is there stuff on the website I should use? I’m an old fart and as with most techno gadgets I usually stick to the basic features. What does everyone else do?

I just use it for running to record. Sometimes I use it for cycling but just to get CORE temperature.

I also use it as my triathlon watch during races (though still use my Garmin for the bike).

I also just used it to record workouts. I look at the data it has for sleep and stuff like that, but I don’t go out of my way to use any other features really.

The battery on COROS watches is downright amazing, which is the single reason I bought mine, but it’s been a great watch regardless.

I recently purchased a Vertix 2. Initial thoughts:

  1. build quality is very good
  2. indoor/pool swim mode is surprisingly good - swam 1500 and the watch didn’t miss a length.
  3. indoor bike/smart trainer - recognized both my Tacx Neo 2T and my Assioma pedals as power sensors
  4. indoor/treadmill run - does not recognize my Runn sensor - BOOO! Does use watch accelerometer to approximate speed/cadence and can calibrate after run. Also, allows you to set your treadmill speed on the watch to match the treadmill (kind of a workaround), also has Virtual Run mode (similar to Garmin) that can connect to Zwift run, etc.
  5. Bluetooth only, no ANT+ support
  6. EVOlab (the website) - very run focused, and GPS/outdoor runs at that. So, my winter/indoor sessions (pool, treadmill, trainer) don’t factor in much.
  7. fitness metrics - running performance, fatigue, recovery - all appear to require GPS runs to calculate. So again, indoor sessions not used to calc - BOOO!

I will use the Vertix 2 in 2023 for outdoor training and triathlon racing.

Cheers,

I have a Coros Apex. In general, very happy with it. I don’t do much at all with it, though. I go on hikes and I ride my bike, and use it to keep track of the distances, speeds, and elevations, and to be able to see where I went on a map. Sometimes I use the navigation, and put a route in ahead of time. I think that’s it. I do like the navigation features.

I have started entering my weight lifting workouts in the app and syncing with the watch. Exercise, reps, sets, rest time, etc… The watch tells me what to do, I do it, and then I have a record of it (which I never used). Also use it for and interval training (run, bike, rowing machine).

I got a Pace 2 right around June 15th this year. I haven’t gotten too crazy with it, just tracking, a couple 5ks, and some MTB biathlons. I did pick up the new Stryd and the native compatibility is great. About a month of data in with that, and I’m trying to figure out how to easily make a custom power based training plan to put on the watch.
