I got like 15 pairs. There are some that I only wear rarely, but I do use all of them.
Reason I got 15 pairs is that there is allot of sun where i live so sunglasses are everyday wear if you like taking care of your eyes.
I buy a new pair every 6 months or year to stay fresh or because the old ones are a little beat up and are in all my pictures.
The old ones are still ok then, so I don’t throw them out but keep them for when I work in the garden, go surfing with a pair that I don’t mind losing/breaking etc.
Some of them are expensive, like the jawbones and jackets for triathlon. Others are less expensive like the Von Zippers and Dragons.
I’ve been keeping them in a drawer, but it doesn’t seem very efficient, plus you don’t see all of them and forget the ones in the back.
Also the expensive ones are in bags/sleeves/pouches/cases which take up a bunch of drawer space and you don’t see which one is in which case/pouch.
Any good ideas for storing or displaying sunglasses? I can make stuff from wood easily.
Plus points for cool ideas using bike parts! Thanks in advance. Daniel.
My wife manages an optometry practice. I use cases for all my glasses. Rx, sunnies or RX sunnies.
For cases, if you have some sunnies without them, just hit your optometrist for cases. Only a few $ each. Also, while you’re there, ask if they have any old table top dislpays. We have a spinning rack that holds about 20 pairs of glasses. We just grab the pair we want, throw them in a case and head out the door.
With access to cheap or free glasses and sunnies (my daughter works for a competing optometrist) we have literally hundreds of pairs of glasses in our house. Something for everyone, for every ocassion.
I normally travel (to work) with 3 pairs of Oakley M-Frames (not Rx) for different light conditions. I have some progressive Rx specs, some reading specs and some for really close up stuff. Then I have 2 pairs of Rx sunnies. One small and one large pair to go with whatever I’m wearing. All up I normally travel with 7-8 pairs of glasses worth about $8k (although that’s not what I paid of course)
My wife is amazed how long my glasses and sunnies last, because I take good care of them. Most people don’t respect glasses and they get trashed in no time.
That’s allot of glasses. I i will check if there are stores that have old sunglasses racks or something like that.
I use the glasses often, so what I’m looking for is a solution for
storage, as in to organize them somewhere
protection, the storage needs to not damage them or scratch them
display, so I can see all of them when choosing
I got some cool ideas from pinterest, check em out:
I like that last wood one. If I can find a nice branch that is bent I could make a wall mounted version of this.
I have a set of Ray-Ban Predators that are for in the car, only for the most part. I am either wearing them, or in the on the built in on-the-ceiling holding case for them.
I have a set of Oakley Razor XL, glasses for riding, and one of the hard Oakley cases for storage. These glasses, are either on my face, stuck in the front of my helmet, or in their case.
Or, make something like that out of wood, similar to the log display above…
I have 4 pairs of RX sunglasses in varying prescriptions, either on my face or in their cases. Even the fifteen-year-old pair is unscratched…
there are several pairs washing around the bottom of various oceans, though… now I pack Croakies in the cases…
I saw a post onetime that suggested hanging them from a wire hanger in the closet. Later in the same post it suggested using sunglass cases for storing earbuds.
I suspect I would fail Lifehacks 101 at the Pinterest College of Ingenuity.
Thanks for the constructive feedback.
I will try to keep one in each of my 5 cars, balance 3 on my head as I walk around, and leave 4 pairs on my helmet and 3 in cases which I will open to see which one is in which case every time…
I live in the sun, every day, every year, when going to work, when going home, every time, burning, scorching, ray blasting sunshine. It’s really nice, but seriously…you need sunglasses.
That’s why there is not only two pairs. And I’m not even overdoing it. Most people I know around here have at least 6. I have more because I take care of them so they don’t really go away.
As I said there are old ones I wear occasionally, some I have in different colours/lenses.
Example:
Work clothes with brown leather belt/shoes : Time for wood Murielo
Work clothes with black belt/shoes : Dragon the Jam / Von Zipper Elmore Jackass edition
Work clothes with grey belt/shoes : Von Zipper Elmore Battlestation
Hangover but need to work : Black dark lens Von Zipper Elmore’s / Dragon Domo
Bike only : Oakley Jawbone 00Red
Triathlon/Running : Oakley Racing Jacket Jade Iridium vented
Fixie cruising : Neff Daily
Beach/surf : Von Zipper hammerlock / Elmore Bob Marley edition
Funeral : Von Zipper Black metal stache
Yard work : Dragon GG
Day/Sunset party, sailing, windsurfing etc : Von Zipper Desmond / one of the Elmore’s
Watching TV at night : Oak Wooden Rx glasses / Black Rx retro glasses
so yea, help. Something wall mounted would be better.

I will try to get a stand like that, stores should have old ones? Or make the log thing. It would look cool.
