How do you post a picture

thanks
.

General instructions: find a site to host your picture, put the picture’s url into the message via the picture tool in the toolbar (the mountain in the picture frame).

Specific instructions: save your pics jpeg files. go to snapfish.com and sign up for an account. upload your pics to snapfish into an album. click on “share album” (on the left, i think). send the invitation it gives you to your own email address. open your email and go to the message. click “view pictures” or “go to album” or whatever it says. click on an individual picture. right click on the picture and then choose “properties”. this gives you a URL address at the bottom. copy it. go back to your slowtwitch post and click on the little mountain in a picture frame on the toolbar right above where you’re typing. paste the URL into the box. this should post your picture.

thanks.

geez. I was going to post a pic of my new ride but that’s too complicated.

There are a couple different ways to do that. I personally host the pic on one of our websites (upload it via an FTP program), and then use Internet Explorer on a PC to post it.
I have a Mac too, but I can’t post pictures on it not via Explorer, or Navigator or Safari. So you need a PC computer and a newer version of Explorer. If you don’t have access to a website, there are some free ones out there which let you host images.
Hope this helps.

i might complicate things too much. i just posted my first pics on ST and it was a pain. but once you open the account with snapfish.com it’s actually pretty quick (it takes me about 2 minutes to do the whole process now). maybe somebody else has a quicker way. i tried hosting my pics with one of the free picture hosting services, which simplify the process a lot (you don’t have to share your pics, then get the URL. they just give you the URL for it), but the pictures only stayed up for a few hours. snapfish keeps them up longer. other services probably do too, i just didn’t use the right ones.

I use http://tinypic.com/ very easy to use, no sign up and free. Here is step by step for them.

  1. Know where your pic is on your computer. I have spent a lot of time looking for stuff I didn’t know the file name to.

  2. Hit browse on tinypic. See 1)

  3. right click, hit select

  4. click on “host it”

  5. as soon as the page refreshes you are hosted. Immediately click on “newest” at the top right of the screen, you will have to click back (previous) through several pics (at least) to find yours, it may take a bit, busy site. (probably not bad on broadband)

  6. found your pic? right click. click properties. “copy” the url, on tiny pic this is very small, you could actually memorize it.

  7. On ST hit the little picture frame Mt icon. Note you must have IE latest edition to use this. It doesn’t show for older IE, Safari , Mozilla, etc.

  8. I always copy the url without the Http://, because the window pops up with it already there. If you copied it with, delete from the window first and the copy your url. If you don’t it does the http://http:// thing and your pic won’t post.

  9. Smile, you finally figured it out. Took me six months and numerous posts to figure out that I needed to upgrade IE to do anything, then another two months from there. I was begging hosting from others.

Good luck.

thanks, jim. do they keep your pics available for a while?

I think so. I’ve never had a pic go off line on here. Copy your urls if you want to check if it is still active, they have a function for that. Personally i tend to repost the pic because I don’t keep track of the address. Let me bring up an old post and see. I will edit later.
