How do you Di2 guys clean your bike?

Do you just do the same thing? Use something like simple green and a hose?

Just got mine and don’t want to mess anything up. My bike is pretty damn dirty.

Same as if mechanical. The connections are waterproof if sealed properly. Soap and a hose works on mine.

And leave the battery on.

I’ve had Di2 on one of my road bikes for two years and many thousands of miles. I’m pretty good about bike maintenance and cleaning, but I’ve always been a little bashful about going at those electric derailleurs with soapy water and a brush. I tend to wipe them down with a damp shop paper towel after each ride, but it’s hard to get at the back side of that front derailleur. Well I removed it the other day and it was quite a mess back where it’s up against the seat tube. So I established a new policy. From now on, each time I replace a chain I’ll unplug and remove the derailleur (which is a very simple task since the chain is already removed) and give it a thorough cleaning.

As the others said, soapy water and a hose. Leave battery clipped in and you should not have any problems.

i know riders who use them for cross and bucket washer and pressure wash them all season w/o issues
.

With a hose!

spit and elbow grease.

.

I leave the battery on and just wash away.

Unicorn tears.

I hose it off, then wipe it down with a wet rag and give it very cursory dry before I let it drop all over my wife’s kitchen. I imagine I leave the battery on…maybe not. I’ve never thought about it. I do know, if the battery is on, at some point I take it off in the wash cycle. I ride Trek and the battery bracket gets full of silt and road schmutz and makes getting the battery off a real knuckle busting affair. However, I wash it like I wash anything…pretty much halfassedly.
