I just got my first bike with an aero seat post but can’t get any of my saddle bags to fit around the seat post. I have a snazzy velcro contraption that holds co2 and the strap is long enough I can fit the essentials under it, but a true saddle bag looks so nicer and is much more practical so I’m looking for suggestions on what to use. I only use behind the seat bottle cages on long training rides when I don’t want to stop so that I have a rolling buffet so I’m not sure if the x-wing (or similar) is right for me. What do you use?
The medium one of these: http://www.topeak.com/2006/products/bags/aerowedgepacksstrap.php
Works a treat.
I have a couple of Topeak bags but the velcro is too short. I’m bummed that it didn’t work. I guess I could sew a little peice of velcro on the end to make it longer.
I made a simple velcro extension so that I can use a standard saddle bag with my aero post. I got two pieces of adhesive-backed velcro (one hook, one loop) the same width as the straps on my saddle bag and stuck them together back-to-back. Cut them just long enough to go around your post. Cost ~$0.50 and can be switched from bag to bag.
Edit: If that’s not clear, shoot me a PM with your e-mail address and I’ll send you a pic.

Jandd makes really good saddle bags. Tom fit his on the Kalibur’s aero seat post. It was a tight fit, but it worked.
I carry my spares old school – around my neck.
Are we talking tubluars or clinchers? I throw clincher tubes in my jersey pocket and strap my tubbies to my X-lab.
I’d like to make claim to one of the most efficient spare setups with aero seatpost. This picture shows it, but I have no close ups:

Yes, and that’s the Bodyglove catamaran and the Royal Kona hotel in the background. The top pros might beat me by 2 hours at Kona, but they are no match for my spare set up ![]()
Shove mine down the tube of my SoftRide beam. Someone posted that here this year. Works great.
i don’t ride with a spare for racing but if i was i’d have the aerobottle on the front and then shove the rest of the stuff in a waterbottle on the downtube.
