I would assume this will be based on estimated finish time which we included in the registration form. Of course, I have not actually raced it yet, so maybe someone has a better idea…
If I recall correctly, it is not unlike the Egyptian ferry disaster. Basically, they blow the horn and it is every man (and woman) for themselves. The horn goes, you jump.
The seeding is by age. each age group has a different colour cap. They load under 35 (or 40?) on the main deck and the over 40 on the upper deck. They try to get all of one group off before the next but there is a lot of mixing of age groups. When we were told to head downstairs most of the main deck was already gone. It was 8 minutes after the start gun before I got off the boat.
The only true wave is the pros who start a couple minutes before everyone else
