i’ve been scratchin my head on this…obviously they gotta cover their costs and make a few bones…but do the numbers add up?

corporate sponsorships help, it’s fairly easy to cover race cost but the sponsorships help to actually make a profit. Unless it’s a huge race the race director often basically makes what he’d/she’d have made working hourly and putting in the same number of hours they spent prepping for the race. Sometimes they basically loose money if you’re looking at it as far as they broke even on the race fees but put in x hours of their own time which they didn’t make a profit to pay for. Depends on the race, the sponsors and the race directors. I’ve put on a couple of smaller races and we’re planning a trial running/cross country festival coming up and hoping to make money. In the past I’ve done okay but again $$$ wise I probably would have come out ahead just putting all those crazy hours into another job!
