How do I lace my shoes?

I am trying a pair of Specialized Recon Lace-up Gravel Shoes, and they came with the laces lacing “in”, meaning they were laced with the tip of the lace going into the hole from the outside, like so:

I typically lace shoes the other way (lace coming up from the inside), so for all you lace-up shoe wearers, is there one preferred way to go? I feel like it might hold better this way, but also take more time to adjust because of pressure on the lace, and I’m not used to it, so maybe I will try this way, or maybe I will relace the shoes.

Thanks - and if you think this is a ridiculous question - I’m right there with you!

Like your momma told you :stuck_out_tongue:
I would go with the opposite way. inside–>out. like you suggested but it may be some special with them.

I do believe these shoes are meant to be laced either with the tongue of the shoe or tucked underneath the tongue, that is why they point inwards
.

I wondered if it might make it easier to tuck them into the strap on the tongue if they lace this way. I will probably try it this way initially, and then maybe swap to how I’m used to if I don’t like it.

I bought some Giro mtb/gravel shoes and they are laced the same way. I’ve grown to like it and didn’t change the lacing pattern.

Thanks, this is good to hear so I will try it this way.

I always lace shoes coming up from the inside, but any time I’ve had someone at a shoe store lace shoes for me when trying them on, they always lace them outside-in. Maybe they know something I don’t.

For ultimate aero ness lace them like this

Same here, except I did add lock lacing at the top. Helps lock in the heels. (Racing cx means running, too!)
