I come inside to Fox News and there’s some four star dude in blue enforcement uniform of some derivative. He’s directly calling out Congress on what they should be doing? I’ll expose my ass here and assume he’s actually in some sort of Federal Law Enforcement capacity (although i admit to chuckling at his stars). So how is it these chuckle heads can appear on any sort of news and spout their opinions about what Congress, the Nation, or the American people should be doing? In so far as I understand these things: while I was in uniform–and i for sure never wore four stars–I’d have been relieved and drummed out of the service for expressing political opinions in an official capacity.
Are there different rules between what Title 10 folks can do–media wise/1A wise; and DHS (Title what) folks)???
Sure I’ve have news folks come embed with my guys in Iraq and I’ve see plenty of tour groups come thru the crew i work with in the Stan. Hell, on this board–named differently then-- i personally engaged MattinSF on the blatant bullshit from the left he was parroting about how the rising competency of the IA was a lie. Chief of Police for Washington DC. There is a difference between a federal officer and a municipal officer lecturing Congress. DC has a special relationship where they have to pay out of their security budget for things like Trump’s ego parade and then go remind Congress they should get reimbursed.
Psst- there’re 3 main buttons on your TV that can help with this. The first turns the volume so far down you can’t hear them talking. The second changes the channel. The third turns the device off. Any one of those options should/ could have been employed, especially during a bbq.

I’m not saying former Soldiers can’t serve. Just saying it’s a danger to our Republic to have uniformed service members–of any Federal org–directly criticizing the govt via the media
FWIW. it was my honor to lead a Task Force in Iraq that was comprised of regular US Army; National Guard (HI, WA, CA, OR) and US Army Reserve (442nd RCT). We were outside the wire working with the IA to build their capacity and went in with them on many missions.
This was the same time Tulsi Gabbard was there on her first tour and I remember well BG Joe Chaves talking about how she wanted to go home early to stand for reelection once she’s punched her ticket as a ‘veteran.’
What I told my guys before we disbanded was that our future political leaders would come from their ranks but i was talking to the NG and Reserve Soldiers not the sprinkling of regulars i’d brought to the TF.
We NEED congressional leaders who’ve served to represent us in Congress.
We just don’t need uniformed service members on national media directly trying to influence our Govt policies. Truman very rightly fired McArthur for exactly that.

I do not disagree at all with your position here. You will know that the apocalypse is upon us when the first active duty US Military steps out on that slippery slope.
I will take your concern one step further and assign blame for this recent event. DHS leadership at all levels is completely in flux. There are no first stringers left in charge as responsible actors. The de facto head sits in the west wing and whispers in the ear of the President. The goober officer in question knows there is no downside to his testimony to the media while in uniform if he speaks from the same hymnal. Hell, he was probably directed to appear and plead his case.

Heck, when I was a kid and my dad was in the reserves they wouldn’t even let him go into a restaurant in the early days. Drive through windows were his friend when he was coming back from training.
