Had to get some repairs to my Cervelo P2C and went to a specialized bike shop that also sells Cervelo. Original front wheel was a shimano and it was replaced with an 80$ DT Swiss axis 3.0 they tell me is equivalent.
Was my original shimano wheel that cheap? It did not seem that heave and neither does the new one. How bad of a different can the hub make on rolling resistance?
Your R500 set retails for $189, so they are roughly the same cost (give or take). Are the Specialized (they aren’t REALLY DT Swiss) wheels as good? Meh.
I’m a Shimano fanboy though.
I had a lot of trouble with the rear hub, replaced several times by bike shop…on 2012 Allez Evo. Not a huge fan at all here, but I could be wrong. The bike is barely ridden.
