It’s my understanding that Fet IA bearings are made into the frame and can’t be removed. Tons of folks on social media are running Shimano cranks. I guess they’re using wheels manufacturing adapters?
are made into the frame? they’re just regular bb30 bearings. yes, you need an adapter such as the one made by wheels manufacturing
Here you go https://wheelsmfg.com/bottom-brackets/bb30-outboard/bb30-to-outboard-bottom-bracket-for-24mm-cranks-shimano-red.html
.
The Felt IA FRD is full Dura Ace with a DA crankset. You just need the BB30 to Hollowtech II adapter, as posted above. Felt used to have a few other models that came stock with Shimano cranks, but they dropped them from the current 2018 lineup-- I would not be surprised to see them come back. Compatibility is no problem at all.
Felt probably used something like this in the IA FRD because they spec Ceramicspeed BB30 bottom brackets: https://wheelsmfg.com/products/bb-crank-adapters/bb30-adapter-for-shimano-24mm-cranks.html
And, they probably used this on the old IA2: https://www.tokenproducts.com/bottom-brackets/press-fit/bb30ar
I’m sorry. I wasn’t clear. I meant that the carbon is molded such that you can’t replace the B.B. 30 bearings with an aftermarket pressfit option (I’m a huge fan of a B.B. company called B.B. infinite). As in if you remove the bearings there won’t be a large enough diameter to insert a 1 piece replacement B.B.
you can add a bottom bracket sleeve to convert to a threaded bottom bracket. not sure if that fixes your problem. honestly, this feels like your 10th post on the Felt IA10. You are definitely over thinking it
I’m running a ceramic speed bb30 with 24mm reducer included… So no adapter needed, no extra creek…
Sorry I’ve just never made a multi thousand dollar bike purchase on like 2 days notice before. I wasn’t expecting to buy a bike 11 weeks from my first ironman. Just trying to get some useful and quick info. Which ST has always graciously given me.
Just remove the bb30 bearings that come with the frame (have a shop punch them out if you don’t have proper tools), and then install one of these:
https://wheelsmfg.com/…-bearings-black.html
It presses into your bottom bracket shell. Again, have a shop press it in if you don’t own a bearing press - one side presses in, the other then screws into that from the other side… There are youtube vids showing how to do it.
Then shove in your favorite shimano crankset. I have this BB in my FRD and a dura ace crank.
