Home fitness bike question (Peloton, etc)

The majority of these bikes do not offer independent horizontal adjustments to the handlebars. Most of them offer vertical adjustment with a horizontal component, as the “head tubes” seem to match rough with the "seat tube angle. So as the bars move lower, they also move further away and vice versa.

Ok, the question… Is this as stupid as it initially strokes me, or am I missing something. Would we not want lower bars to be closer, assuming we are fitting shorter riders as the bars come down? Smaller bikes have shorter top tubes and stems, so why are these home fitness bikes moving the bars away as they come down?

so why are these home fitness bikes moving the bars away as they come down?

Because they’re not designed by bike fitters.

Actually there are several home fitness bikes with horizontal handlebar adjustments but you are correct in the some do not. Maybe keep looking. Stages, most of the new Spinning bikes, RevMaster and more have fore/aft handlebar adjustments. And Speed guy is correct but only mostly correct. MOST are NOT designed by fitters nor do MOST have fitter input. Only a few.
Good luck.
