13 H 09 - Hamilton Was 20th Overall At Start Of Stage
Tyler Hamilton was 20th overall after 12 stages of the 2004 Tour de France. He is now out of the race. He has been very upset for the past two days after his dog, Tugboat, was put to sleep after being diagnosed with cancer.
The director of his Phonak team has explained that the reason for Hamilton’s retirement is because of severe back pain.

The rider who finished 4th in the 2003 Tour de France, Tyler Hamilton, has abandoned the race at the 84th kilometer mark.

OH man what a great stage.
I was really happy for Voeckler. He was really gritting it out the last few kilometers, and it payed off cuz he’s still in yellow.
Also when he zipped up his jersey 800m from the finihs I was like ‘oh shit’ because the previous years he did this he always won/went for the stage win. Oh well. Basso is still the man (can he TT?)
awesome effort from voeckler. that kid is going to be getting some major boy band ass after the tour is over.
looking like basso will be a champ for the future after lance is done.
Ullrich always said that if he doesn’t feel like his tour is going well, he’ll ride for the best placed rider on his team (which is Kloden in this case).
I really want to see Basso break away from Lance in one of the Alps stages. Who knows maybe Lance will have a bad day and Basso will put 2 minutes into him, then another 20 seconds during the Alp TT, and then lose 2:15 on the long TT.
That will be an interesting race.
