I love me my Hokas. The snow and ice has come and I am slipping all over he place in my Bondi’s and Tarmac roads. My old traction device won’t fit over the ginormous clown like Hokas.
Any of you Hoka runners have a winter solution? Do the Hoka trail shoes go well in the snow and ice and if so which model?
I dont have a traction device for my Hokas but I try to run off the asphalt trail and in the grass if its icy. I’ve never tried the trail shoes on snow/ice. Can you modify the traction device somehow with zipties or something?
Not the verb, the noun. Get some small (or with the Hoka’s i guess you could get longer ones) sheet metal screws. Install several with the 1/4" socket on a drill. Boom, done.
Fine on trails too, but if on roads, and the pavement is dry, they feel a little “clicky”.
I usually have a dedicated snow/ice shoe for the winter with the screws in, and another pair for clear running. Easily removed in Spring if your shoes still have miles left in them.

Glad someone helped you there, I hadn’t signed back in for awhile.
