Hoka in wide (1)

Hoka just released another shoe in wide (Arahi). Is there a reason they only make 2 in wide? I need wide in stable shoe (Stinson or new Gaviota) but can’t wear a regular. Curious if a build issue or just a business decision.

I really, really wish they came out with a wide Clifton.

This, just so much this. I’ve discussed this point with multiple people, so there has to be the demand. Come on Hoka!!

How wide are you? For over 25 years I wore NB size 10.5 EE. Work shoes and dress shoes are always an E or wide. I’ve been wearing Hoka’s for 5 years now and in every one I’ve tried; 10.5 fits me fine. The first pair I ordered, I sized up to an 11 and after a week they were flopping around all over.

It’s business. To build more models in a wide width they would need to produce 2 new lasts (men’s and women’s) and agree to a minimum buy (x number of pairs) from the factory for both styles.

Hoka itself is not all that big yet.

I’m between 10 1/2 and11. Ended up buying the larger size, did a 3 mile walk in them and had to take them off, my feet hurt so bad.

I would try them again, but only if a wide. All my shoes are wide.

Of course I am also a mid/ heel striker so none of the already wide models won’t work.

If business decision, I would think there is the demand, especially for slow, inept runners like me.

Well, that’s simply not a realistic excuse. Hoka isn’t some small startup company where they are reusing paper in their printers and toilet. It’s owned by Dexter which has PLENTY of capital to make a wide happen. They simply don’t want to do it for some business reason and it has nothing to do with capital or the size of the company.

Yes Deckers owns Hoka, doesn’t mean each division isn’t held to a strict financial model. They didn’t buy the brand to run it irresponsibly.

They had zero models in wide, added 1, have now added a second and don’t be shocked if there is a third wide option in the future. They are following a plan to grow and be profitable.

I only wish that plan was sped up a bit

I rock a 2E hobbit foot and love the clayton in a standard width.

I had to give up on Hoka’s. My foot ss really wide and I would get severe pain on the outside of foot where it bulges out. I went to the Altra Paradigm, these have been a godsend for me.

How is the width compared to Asics Nimbus in the regular version?

Wider, same og narrower?

I have 4E width feet. I loved Hoka Bondi 4. Did ironman with them. They are almost a bit too wide for me.

The tried Bondi 5 wide. They look good, but give me blisters. They are going back.

I just tried Arahi wide. Love them. Did 18 miles right out of the box. My new faves.

I also wear cliftons 3… but I do have to cut the uppers along the seams to accommodate my tailors bunion. They work fine, but unsightly with those cuts.

My advise… try them all and return as needed. Try Arahi. Feels weird at first, but they are pretty great. Try Newton distance. Their upper is magical & accomodate my super wide feet.

Good luck my fellow hobbits.
