Hoka Hoka warning

First of all, I love my Hokas, they have added years to my knees. However one pair comes with quick laces that are just too damn long, causing one foot to trip on the dangling lace on the other shoe,
resulting in 6 stitches and misc scrapes, (I was on gravel). Definitely my own bad, I should anticipated what happened, used scissors in the emergency room to snip the ends,
suggest you do the same.

Yeah, I did a half ironman earlier this year which was the first run I done for about 5 or 6 weeks. I forgot that I usually tuck the long laces in and face-planted in front of the largest section of crowd. The new ones I have now have laces.

So, this isn’t really a warning about the Hokas, more an oversight on your part!

Shouldn’t this really be titled “I forgot to tuck the laces and tripped.”.

Fixed it for OP

Edited to add winky face, and to make me seem like less of a dick!

Or in my case, ‘too f’n lazy to change out the laces for something decent even though I know better’
.

Yes, I should have anticipated that the laces, used as designed, carried the risk of an unintended consequence.

Not really, these are not designed to be tucked in, I used them as designed.
I should have anticipated that their length could cause problems but the only way to fix is to
cut off the stop at the end. My post was intended as a heads up to others with the same shoes but I appreciate your observation.

these are not designed to be tucked in

I disagree.

I run in several different Hoka models. My Conquest and Bondi shoes which came out of the box with the quick lace system each have a small loop down at the bottom.

On the other hand my Cliftons which come with regular laces have no such loop.

That leads me to believe that the loop is there for a reason and has a purpose. Thus, I always tuck it in and have never had a problem when using those shoes.

This.

Tuck the long quick maces in. They’re long so even those of us with high unstop can use them.
