Hoka Biondi Wear/Durability

Have about 100 miles on my first pair and love the feel and ride. Was getting ready to order another round but read some reviews beforehand and checked the wear on mine.

Much to my dissappointment the outter sole is almost worn through at the ball of the foot and the outter heel.

What are the opnions about the durability of these shoes? At this price I can’t afford to replace them after such low milage. Will they go 500 miles?

Itook my first run in a pair of B2 (speed) - last night They replaced a pair of Biondi “1” shoes that had easily 650 miles - soles were just fine (I run trail vs road in training) - BUT - I had to replace since the upper separated from the lower (both shoes on either side front 1/3) Hoping the BS"2" will perform better
.

There’s a lot of sole to wear through on the Bondis and other Hokas. I get about 500 miles out of mine, but you can always put Shoe Goo on the soles at the wear points to slow the wear. I believe Stinson Tarmacs “might” have denser rubber on the soles, but don’t hold me to that.

The soles do wear very fast. By 300 miles I was completely through the soles on mine in large areas (not the foam), but I pushed them out for an extra 200 miles after that. I like the shoes a lot, I’ve just never seen running shoes wear down that fast.

Despite the wear issues, I think 500 miles is very reasonable. As long as you’re okay with having a bit less grip, you can run with the soles worn down for quite a while. I normally replace shoes right at around 300 miles, but felt very comfortable pushing these out further.

My soles have worn quickly as well. But I was looking at, what seemed to be, and updated pair at the store yesterday and it looks like Hoka may have addressed this issue. The sole material is noticeably different and “tougher” on the “updated” pair. Not sure if it would affect the ride though… I doubt it.

Same issue for me. After 200-ish the wear was rather astonishing, and shoe-goo didn’t stick very well. I emailed pics to Hoka customer service and they advised that I return for exchange to the Fleet Feet store where I purchased, which I did successfully no questions asked. Of course now my replacement pair is behaving pretty similarly, but I guess I’m not worrying about it too much because they were free replacements. I’ll be switching to the Stinson after these are shot because of the more durable sole.

For me they wear better than Asics. For Asics I would have wear at 300± miles that would make me feel like replacing them. With Bondi B this occurs at something between 400 and 500 miles.

Yep - after only 2 or 3 long runs they showed a lot of wear for the miles on them and I took them back. Serious durability issues with them. Great shoe but they need to improve longevity before I consider another pair.

I am on my my third pair of Bondi B’s and have been pleased with the tread wear but i did encounter separation of the upper from the rubber. I went to the Hoka guys at this weekends Chicago Marathon and they have a newer shoe coming out for the 2014 release. The guy was wearing them and they appear to address many of the existing concerns. Only time will tell but i look forward to the improvements.

Based on the posts I had read on this forum I had expected the sole to wear fast. What I was surprised with is how the upper is already getting holes in them. I have less than 200 miles on them and on the outsides of the shoe where my little toe touches have holes almost worn all the way thru. On the insides of the shoe where the shoe bends it is also beginning to develop holes. I have never had a shoe where the upper wore that quickly. I have used this shoe on dirt trails more than some of my other shoes. I wonder if some of the dirt/grit got in there and wore them out quicker. They feel great to run in but, when it is time to get a new pair I will have to think long and hard do I really want to buy another very expensive pair that don’t seem to be holding up very well for me. IDK I may contact Hoka and see if they will do anything for me.
