Sounds to me like he’s going to have a spot on the pier next year.
I guess it’s a celebrity slot.
Will he wear his football pads, or his dancing shoes ??..I’d rather see his spot given to someone that deserves the break…returning active service Veteran, for instance

something to top off this?
Yes! And I saw something the other day for the very first time along that subject.
While looking through races, I clicked on Miami 70.3. When you click the “register” tab they actually give veterans a discount. The only WTC race I have ever seen do that.

Well, this way the rest of my family will be interested in watching coverage with me. We have dual citizenship in Steeler nation, especially all the women.
I read that he’s already planning on violently knocking people off their bikes at the turn around in Hawi. He’s already saying that they will be clean hits.
You do know that he was a wide reciever, right? He wasn’t a defensive player. lol
You do know that he is considered one of the fierciest blocking WR’s of all time right? LOL.

Google Hines Ward cheap hits. I stand by my comment.
Hines Ward was one the biggest cheapshot artist in the NFL and he played for a bunch of want to be tough guys - Steelers.
I can still understand WTC welcoming him with a celebrity spot.
Ok, just making sure.

As far as football, goes, the Steelers were the “Tough Guy” team.
Now in reality, Tough Guys start and finish with the Navy Seals, Army Rangers and Green Berets. Any-one else that “thinks” they are tough are kidding themselves.
To the O.P. - I think its great he is racing.
In terms of the NFL, the Ravens were the tough guy team. Steelers were a bunch of hacks that liked cheap shots. No question about it.
I completely agree about real world tough guys.
Guessing you live in or around Baltimore.
hacks with 6 rings…
Kansas 70.3 did when I raced it in 2009. Not sure if they still do.
At least he’s a legitimate athlete … maybe not an endurance athlete, but at least well recognized.
Certainly better than the usual BS like drug addicts getting recognition for stopping drugs and exercising (at least so they say) … much more refreshing than that!
Welcome Hines (even if you were a Steeler) … we’ll see what you’ve got … better not wear your dancin" shoes!
Dave

he wasn’t a cheapshot artist!
how often did his hits gets seen by refs?-all the time
how many times did he get a penalty?-rarely
how many times did he get fined by the NFL(which they often do when a ref missed a call)?-i can’t recall any, although there may be 1 or 2
a vast majority of his hits were legal. he knocked the shit of of DB’s, who bitched and moaned because they could dish it out but not take it
