Hi

How rude of me to jump in without introducing myself. My (real) name is Casey and I’m a tri-addict. I went to Kona in 2000 to watch a friend race IMH (he had a horrible day unfortunately) and it was awesome! I’ve never done an IM - just a few marathons, and century, and a few short course tris. I had a baby in March so I am starting to think about gearing back up. We are moving to Colorado, so I am looking forward to gaining some extra hemaglobin. I was an aerobics instructor for 6 years and starting running during that time. I then added cycling to the mix and then did a sprint tri. I was dead last out of the water but still got 2nd in my age group. I worked on my swimming with a master’s group for over a year, but haven’t had a chance to put it to the test yet. My goal is a 1/2 IM at this point. After that, we shall see.

You folks seem like a great group (except for those of you who are scary). Thanks for letting me join in.

Welcome aboard, nice to have ya here!

welcome to our humble abode. have fun, but don’t stay on too long kuz then you’ll get fired almost like all of us. Good luck on any races this year. I’m doing my first IM at Florida in two weeks and believe me, I know about almost coming in last at the swim (AND i haven’t joined a masters program, so you can guess how i’ll do on the swim in florida)

Thankfully, I’m a full time mommy now and I don’t think my DH will fire me or he’d be left alone with the little monster.

2 weeks to your first IM! How exciting!

greetings and salutations. welcome. enjoy, but beware, all truly helpful and excellent advice on this forum comes with a healthy dose of sarcasm, wit and smartass behaviour. It’s somewhat a holy crusade to continually filter out the good from the silly. But that what makes this sooo much fun, and you really feel like you’ve earned it when you get the good stuff.

“except for those of you who are scary”

Actually, I’m not that bad.

Welcome CrashingGirl! (BTW, I hope your name has nothing to do with a real crash.) Congrats on getting back to it after a new baby. It took me a year before I got off my butt!!

D.

Welcome to the cult! It’s a good thing that you have a crying baby to tear you away from this place every once in a while, as the forum in Slowtwitchia is like chocolate covered crack - once you try a hit, you’ll be hooked for life.

Nice to hear that you can’t get fired, either.

Welcome.

Just watchout for Tibbs - he can be a little scary at first.

Hello! Welcome and all that. Where in Colorado are you moving? My wife and i are moving to Fort Collins from vegas (soon, but not soon enough).

Berndog–I see you and me in a sprint to the swim finish to avoid the DFL award.

Who is scary? We will put out a hit. The only scary guy is Slowman himself.

Hey CrashingGirl welcome to the forum. It’s great to get a little more estrogen (and another mom, too!) on here…though our hottie thread seems to be doing ok.

Actually, most of the really scary things happen in the Lavender Room now…just one more on the long list of reasons we love Mr. Tibbs.

There are scary people here? Who knew?

Welcome to the asylum…

Pssst… don’t tell him she’s talking about him…

Elwood is scary, but has great taste in music and rides a sweet bike, so he can’t be all that bad.

Scary, huh? How about somethin’ scary for Halloween?

Welcome. You will absolutely love Colorado. I lived there for 15 years while a child growing(?) up. You must learn to worship the color orange.

Go Broncos.

welcome. lots of good info and fun to be had here. just don’t ask if powercranks are better than rotorcranks.

trust us on this one.

Welcome!

We just moved back to Colorado Springs this past summer - great place to live!

Where in Colorado are you moving to? If you need another mom to train with maybe we could hook up.

Congrats on the baby and as far as racing and motherhood are concerned, I say go for it! Had our second baby in March of 2002 and raced that summer.

IMFL 2002 - DNF (got sick on the swim)

IMFL 2003 - 12:32

IMFL 2004 - ??? (I am hoping for some big time hemoglobin help…)

We are moving to Ridgway. It’s about 1.5 hrs from Grand Junction and an hour from Telluride. I can’t wait.
