How rude of me to jump in without introducing myself. My (real) name is Casey and I’m a tri-addict. I went to Kona in 2000 to watch a friend race IMH (he had a horrible day unfortunately) and it was awesome! I’ve never done an IM - just a few marathons, and century, and a few short course tris. I had a baby in March so I am starting to think about gearing back up. We are moving to Colorado, so I am looking forward to gaining some extra hemaglobin. I was an aerobics instructor for 6 years and starting running during that time. I then added cycling to the mix and then did a sprint tri. I was dead last out of the water but still got 2nd in my age group. I worked on my swimming with a master’s group for over a year, but haven’t had a chance to put it to the test yet. My goal is a 1/2 IM at this point. After that, we shall see.
You folks seem like a great group (except for those of you who are scary). Thanks for letting me join in.
welcome to our humble abode. have fun, but don’t stay on too long kuz then you’ll get fired almost like all of us. Good luck on any races this year. I’m doing my first IM at Florida in two weeks and believe me, I know about almost coming in last at the swim (AND i haven’t joined a masters program, so you can guess how i’ll do on the swim in florida)
greetings and salutations. welcome. enjoy, but beware, all truly helpful and excellent advice on this forum comes with a healthy dose of sarcasm, wit and smartass behaviour. It’s somewhat a holy crusade to continually filter out the good from the silly. But that what makes this sooo much fun, and you really feel like you’ve earned it when you get the good stuff.
Welcome CrashingGirl! (BTW, I hope your name has nothing to do with a real crash.) Congrats on getting back to it after a new baby. It took me a year before I got off my butt!!
Welcome to the cult! It’s a good thing that you have a crying baby to tear you away from this place every once in a while, as the forum in Slowtwitchia is like chocolate covered crack - once you try a hit, you’ll be hooked for life.
Hey CrashingGirl welcome to the forum. It’s great to get a little more estrogen (and another mom, too!) on here…though our hottie thread seems to be doing ok.
Actually, most of the really scary things happen in the Lavender Room now…just one more on the long list of reasons we love Mr. Tibbs.
