At one point in my life I wanted to ride some cobbles, but me old bones are smart enough to look at that for what it is: 3 $80 massage appointments and $50 of Advil LiquiGels. Those guys must feel like they have gone through hell after a day on those things.

Never would have picked vanmarcke to win in a sprint over Boonen. When Vanmarcke pulled him and Flecha out with 20K to go, I thought the race was all Boonen’s.
In a pre-season interview Vaughters said that he would be the new sensation in this years classics…he wasn’t kidding. It’ll be interesting to see how everyone recovers for tomorrow. Boonen recovers well…but Vanmarke won’t be racing, nor will Gilbert. I enjoyed watching Thor drafting the whole time and then getting dropped.
Awesome race with a great winner. Thor just like last year, overrated in the classics. Not surprised about Vanmarcke’s sprint, he’s beat guys like PHilipe Gilbert, Hincapie etc at Gent Wevelgem in 2010 (second behind Eisel) and often finishes in the top 10 in group sprints. I think he took 4th in a stage in the Vuelta last year, only days after that horrible crash that threw him into a ravine and he was lucky he survived.
And now it’s confirmed you don’t need an S5 to win a race, when you can beat Boonen on an R3 in the sprint.
