The P2C for 2008 remains essentially the same as it did in 2007 so this review went together based mostly on our work with the bike over the previous year. There is only one real spec change and the new paint scheme. The bike reamins a nice value and the $2500 Ultegra version is really a great value.
Check out our review of the new 2008 Cervelo P2C here:
I have to ask, why in the H E double hockey sticks do they continue to fit that bike with a blue anodized seat binder? it didn’t liik right on the blue bike, and it looks even worse on the red/white one. do you think cervelo ordered these by the containerful a few years ago and is trying to run out the stock?
I know this has nothing to do with your review Tom, it just really bugs me.
Here you go:
Wolf TT Fork (CL on the Dura-Ace bike). Same FSA Headset as Dura-Ace Bike. Same Dura-Ace shifters as on the Dura-Ace bike. Shimano Ultegra front derailleur (as opposed to Dura-Ace on the Dura-Ace bike). Ultegra rear derailleur (as opposed to Dura-Ace on the Dura-Ace bike). Cervelo Mach 2 brake calipers- same as on the Dura-Ace bike. FSA Gossamer Compact Mega-Exo crank (as opposed to FSA SLK Mega-Exo on Dura-Ace bike). Ultegra cogset (same as the one on the Dura-Ace bike- they both use an Ultegra cogset.) Ultegra chain (same as the one on the Dura-Ace bike- they both use an Ultegra chain and I actually like it better than Dura-Ace.) Visiontech Sizemore stem (same as Dura-Ace bike). Visiontech alloy, wing shaped, aerodynamic base bars (same as the Dura-Ace bike). Visiontech alloy ski bend extensions (same as the Dura-Ace bike). Cervelo TT saddle as used on the Dura-Ace bike. Same seatpost as Dura-Ace bike and Cervelo P3C. Shimano R500 wheels (as opposed to the R550’s speced on the Dura-Ace bike). Rubino Pro 23 mm wide tires.
I think it is to make people notice it and read the torque spec. I can’t fault them for that. I would have made it day-glo orange! The binder assembly works great but people will get a long-handled allen wrench on there and just go nuts over tightening the bolts. Perhaps the color casues people to take notice of how it is supposed to be correctly serviced.
Tom,
Can you take pictures of both the p2c and the p3c side by side…or 2 separate pics of them from the same distance and post them side by side. I’m curious as to what they look like side by side (ideally with the same stock wheels or the same type of wheels).
I’m trying to click on them on the cervelo site and i can only see one at a time.
Great write up though. I’d love a p3c, but my teacher/swim coach salary/wife will not let me.
We thought about doing that and wanted to do it with a 56cm frame to depict the differences in frame dimensions. That proved to be tougher than we thought…
Often times when we are moving fast we will use the previous template for the current review. That is why that comes up. I write about 4000 words a day for our website (not all of it goes up- some gets canned or just isn’t that interesting so we bag it) and shoot about 50-350 photos per day in here between fits and product stuff. We move pretty darn fast and keep long hours so someties it is alike a web factory in here…
