This is the trail system that begins 2 blocks east of the bike shop. The city just completed the access to it. It is awesome. Mountain biking is back!
Mike Aderhold and Mario still doing some trail maintenance: Sarah steps by Mike during a break while he describes the tree he just ran over: It’s kind of a blur going through the woods fast: Most of the morning crew. Aderhold, Mario and Sarah: Take me to your leader earthling… Mario signals to the herd from the new paved bike/running trail through U of M and the Henry Ford Community College near the rouge river. This new trail connects Michigan Ave. all the way to Hines Drive through the woods on pavement. Awesome!
We would go months without selling a single MTB. At one point we actually had none in our store. It was just gone. Gas prices, a (minimum) 1 hour trip tot he trails, freeways all torn up… It was no longer practical. A 1 hour MTB ride took 3 hours with to-and-from drive time.
Now we are on the trail in under 4 minutes for over 2 hours. This says nothing for the potential of trail running also, which is huge.
This is a major boost for us here in Dearborn. I’ve sold more MTB’s in the past three weeks than in the previous 3 months.

If you built it, they will come
I’m in Cleveland. Was camping at Pontiac Lake ( about 40 minutes from Detroit) this summer mountain biking. We hit 3 different trail systems in 3 days. WAY more trails in Michigan than Ohio. The guys I was with made 3 trips there this year. The Michigan mountain biking association web site is loaded with info.
I dropped my kid off in Garden City this past Sunday, if you’d of been open I’d of stopped in, and went to Casino Windsor for the day. You sure are right about the roads around there. All seem to be under construction or actually closed for construction.
