That you have the “red x” version?

How about now?

I would guess that the 11 98 008 is the date of manufacture , but this seems out of wach if its a new wheel and maybe the runout of the wheel 0.008". But thats just a guess, I know mine had the runout written in inc and also the etching but I cant remember what they said

That someone sucks at using an inscribing tool? Other then that, I have no idea.

Just bumping this up for andyt from Hed to see, he’d probably know! If he doesn’t see this thread, I’d suggest either sending him a pm (he posted on the most recent s-bend thread) or contacting Hed directly. The guesses above do seem to make sense though!

These were for an eBay wheel that ended last night. I didn’t bid, so now it’s just a matter of curiosity. I’m assuming 11 98 means this is a 98 or 99 wheel. The rest I am curious about though.

Batch #008?

I have a new wheel built in 2004 and IIRC it did not have 2004 or 04 in the numbers. Don’t feel like removing the tire right now and verifying, though.

Call HED 888.246.3639. Andy or Anne will definitely get you the info you need.

It’s obviously a being from another planet trying to communicate with us.

yup, 11/98 is the ship date. Runout will be written in sharpie near the serial number. -Andy

Andy,

I have a HED 3 and there is an 18 written in red marker inside the rim by the stem. Does that mean the runout is 0.018?
