Help with Computrainer

Another Spin Scan question to those who may have experience. I got myself a Computrainer for Christmas and finally got around to hooking it up. Turns out I had to buy a new computer to set it up as my old computer would lock up when using it (reason for delay). Anyway I was riding a quick 10 mile TT yesterday and the first thing I noticed is that my left leg ATA was about 101 while my right leg was in the 130 range. I thought that was a big difference. I don’t have any issues with my right leg that I’m aware of and no matter what I tried I was unable to get the ATA number on my right leg lower then about 125. I’ve searched the forum for ideas and really found nothing that applied.

What I did see is that some folks say to ignore the numbers. I’ve got no problem with that except to say that I think the disparity is too big to ignore. Did I set the trainer up wrong or is my right leg that bad? Any suggestions?

When the magnet on your crank passes the magnet on your chainstay, is your crank completely level? Check that.

Thanks for the reply Doug. I check the crank/magnet relationship and it’s level when the crank passes the magnet.

I noticed something today on the trainer; when I’m going up a virtual hill the ATA on my right leg lowers dramatically. Still not in line with what my left leg is doing (about a 10% difference) but that’s better then 40%. Also the left and right leg wattage equals out when climbing where as with the big difference in ATA it’s pretty unequal (65-35). Any suggestions.

Have you checked the computrainer forum on the racermate website?

Yes. I’ve checked out the forum and that’s going to be my next avenue (I did not see my specific problem on there). I’ve either got a gimpy right leg or something is wrong with my setup.
