Help! Wetsuit Fit Problems

Today I decided to swim in the pool with my wetsuit on; I was way faster but my arms were fatiguing very early in the swim. On land my R.O.M seemed fine but in the water I feel somewhat restricted. I’ve owned an Ironman Stealth Wetsuit since 2003. What should I do? “choke up” the sleeves to mid-forearm for extra room in the shoulders? Apply Pam cooking spray or some other slick stuff to my shoulders (if I do this will I “cook” during the run/bike)? Buy a sleeveless wetsuit?

Your sleeves need to be pulled up more. One thing some people do if they have trouble getting them pulled up is raise their arms above their heads and then have someone zip them up. Give that a shot.

Come on guys, I need you on this one!

I have some thoughts on this but I’m super busy right now so I’ll get back to this.

Thanks Tom!

Personally, unless you plan on doing a ton of cold water swims, I highly recommend getting a sleeveless wetsuit for your first wetsuit. Even in coldish water (68 degrees F), my arms are chilly, but they are warm within a minute or two. Also, sleeveless are less restrictive, obviously. I have a single, sleeveless wetsuit now. If I ever end up needing a full sleeve wetsuit, it isn’t going to be cheap because I’m going to drop some money and get a good with that is very flexible in the shoulders.

Yeah, I’m thinking I should have gone with the QR. Back in 2003, Ironman just came out with their new Stealth suit so I bought it. The legs feel great but I’m restricted in the shoulders. I’m thinking if I pull the sleeves up to mid-forearm and coat my shoulders with Pam I might be OK.

Whatever you do, dont’s use Pam spray. It will void any warranty and compomise the adhesives. Use only Bodyglide but use it generously.
