I accidentally stripped out the inside of my ultegra front derailleur while adjusting the braze-on bolt yesterday. I’ll be leaving for IMFL in 2 days & need a solution. Can I use the ultegra triple derailleur from my road bike until I buy a replacement? Also, I read a thread about Shimano replacing parts for 3 years. Do they cover this type of damage (obviously user error) or am I just screwed?
In a pinch, you can use the triple FD. But, shifting will likely be a little squirrelly. Just set it up for the ring you intend to ride the most (it’s IMFL, so how many gears do you really need?).

I am happy to TSR you an Ultegra or DA F-Der - get me your address you will get the Der.
In a pinch they work, but generally, I have found out that using a triple on a double tends to knock the chain off the small ring alot when downshifting the crank. I think it has to do with the extra ramp the triple has.
Thanks for the offer, I appreciate your generosity. I do have access to a loaner FSA double der, so it won’t be necessary. I just wondered if I could do it without using someone else’s equipment. Thanks again.
