So, for the last two weeks or so I have had some dull pain in my left testicle after rides. I figured it would go away, but today it hurt at work and then when I tried to ride it was too uncomfortable to ride.
Any chance its no big deal?
I know the advice is see a doctor, but I have never “seen a doctor” because of an issue (never had a major injury/sickness only been to doctors for sports physicals) and I just moved. So do I call up some specialist or do I just dial a random general practitioner or do you think a walk in clinic could be of benefit. I have insurance but I am young just out of college so even co-pays arent fun…
You could go to an ER type clinic but it will likely be cheaper to go to a GP instead.
Also, assuming you don’t have a PPO, and also assuming you haven’t met your deductible, you won’t be paying copay. You’ll be paying full price until you hit the deductible.
At any rate, it doesn’t cost me more than $150 when I go to the Dr. for any kind of diagnosis. Go see one…
DEFINITELY go and see your GP though. Never mess with the little fellas.
That said, I have had similar symptoms occasionally and my wife, a GP, has always seemed unconcerned. Post a picture of the and I’ll get her to take a look!
I have banged my low hangers going over a bump while lifting my butt off the seat. It can take weeks for the pain to completely disappear and they stay extra sensitive.
I wouldn’t mess with the boys. Spend the $$, sell a set of rce wheels if you have to, but get to a doc. There is a pretty good reason they did 4+years of undergrad, then medical school, residence, and specialty to do what they do, pay them and get tis taken care of once and for all, whatever the cost. Thee fellas will thank you for that in the long run.

Sure - you were leaving her alone…
To the OP - GO SEE A DOCTOR - preferably a cute one…
Go to the doctor! It could be any number of things. I’ve had a dull ache there that was because of a small kidney stone passing. Yes it also hurts there when a large one passes, but I can have a dull ache and no other symptom from a tiny stone. That’s not a diagnosis, just an anecdote showing that it can be anything.
Is there swelling on either or both testicles? If you have swelling it could possibly be just an infection such as epidydimitis, but don’t take anyone’s word for it here…see a Dr immediately. I only mention infection because it isn’t always something life threatening.
I was diagnosed with it over a year ago…it’s an infection that can’t really be nailed down to something. I believe I was prescribed antibiotics…maybe a week later it went away. It was uncomfortable, specific to a single dangly bit and worried me (I had read about twisted Vas Deferens (sp?)!!!) Get it checked out.
An MD is predisposed to fix the problem. If you say, when I cycle I get this and when I don’t cycle it goes away they will likely, and quite rightly, say ‘Don’t cycle then’. They are not in the business of helping your athletic achievements.
A physio may be better placed to shed some light after the doc has checked that there is nothing actually medically wrong.
Left or right? I believe one, the left, hangs lower on most men … wonder if that is why they put a bike chain on the right!!!
Coloradotri-
I just hit the one year anniversary of being diagnosed with testicular cancer, so you could say this hits a sore spot with me! Actually, it hits a spot that I no longer have…
All joking aside, go see a doc asap. I would insist on getting an ultrasound, as it is one of the most reliable preliminary diagnosis tools for ruling out TC.
I don’t want to scare you, but TC can spread REALLY fast, so for your peace of mind, go get your sore jewel checked out NOW.
My 2 cents…
