OK, that’s not exactly accurate. What I really need help with is the following…
The Facts:
I currently ride a Cervelo Dual 58cm (Stack = 55.0, Reach = 44.0) with a 120mm/-10* stem, no spacers and a T2 Wing/T2+ combo with no issues. I feel like my position is fairly “dialed”. I ride it in the forward saddle position (78*) with an Adamo clamped ~mid-rail (which means that a standard saddle would be pushed pretty far forward on the rails).
Case 1:
Assuming I were looking to change frames and keep the same bar setup and saddle, what would you recommend that I look for?
Should I look for something that would allow a minimal amount of spacers under the stem “just in case” (ie. slightly less stack)? If so, how much? (Most of the customs I see seem to have a fair amount of spacers under the stem. That’s where this question comes from.)
What about something with slightly more reach to allow a 100mm or 110mm stem (since I believe 120mm is on the long side)? What’s considered the “standard” or “normal” stem length on a good-fitting bike?
Anything else I’m overlooking?
Case 2:
If you were going to spec a custom frame for my current position (again, same bars/saddle), what would you spec for stack & reach? And, since we’re at it, would you go steeper than 78* of STA on a custom (which isn’t generally an option on a non-custom)?
Thanks.
Steve
