Help Me get a member of our Armed Forces to the wave start! A So Cal Triathlete Raising funds for Operation Rebound

Most of us have seen the Challenged Athletes Foundation and/or members of Operation Rebound at the IM or 70.3 races around the country, and I have signed on to raise funds and awareness in advance of racing IM California 70.3 in Oceanside on April 4.

This forum has been used for many things - training advice, information sharing, and in some cases - to ask for help. That is precisely what I am doing here. Please click on the link to my Operation Rebound webpage and make a donation today to help members of our Armed Forced who have been injured in the line of duty reach their athletic and recovery goals. And the next time you see one of these amazing athletes at a race, say “thank you” for their service, and know you have been some small part of their sucess that day.

Many, many thanks!

From my page:

My Dad, a former Marine, told me once that each of us has a responsibility to give back - to serve - our country, as a way of saying “thanks” for the sacrifice made by those who came before us.

For some, that service comes in the Armed Forces, or teaching, or perhaps counseling or a donation of time or treasure.

I love triathlon, I love the USA - and I am proud to be raising money for OPeration Rebound and the CAF in the hopes that it will help members of our Armed Forces achieve their athletic and recovery dreams. This is my way to say thank you to those who serve and sacrifice to give me the freedom I enjoy. I will be honored to race alongside them at Ironman California 70.3 on April 4th.

I know in these economic times any donation is a sacrifice. No amount is too samll (or too large!. Some of my friends and family have pledged to give up a little luxury (like their Starbucks a couple days a week) between now and the race - and to then donate those funds to this worthy cause; just think - that $10 a week totals $70, or more toward prosthetics or a handcycle for a athlete and former member of our military. What an amazing gift! I thank you for giving what you can!

A little more about CAF:

In 2004, CAF recognized a critical need among the brave members of our armed forces returning from Afghanistan and Iraq who had suffered permanent disabilities – such as an amputation – in combat. That need was for mentoring and community with athletes who had prevailed over similar circumstances and shared similar experiences. It became part of CAF’s mission to help show injured soldiers that they could be “whole” again through participation in sports – at any level.

It is our intention to create a valuable resource that these soldiers and veterans can use after they return home – or to their home base. Operation Rebound is here to help them meet their athletic goals, whether it’s finishing their local 5K – or trying to make it to the Paralympics.

By making a donation towards our fundraising goal you will directly help an injured soldier in need.

Thank you for your donation!

Thanks for the views (and a couple of PM’s) - now help out CAF and Operation Rebound with a donation!

For the cost of some tire levers or a new tube - you can make a difference!

…i promise not to bump this too often - even less if you make a donation!
