Help me diagnose this hip pain?

I made a post about my iliopsoas on the right side hurting a bit most likely from kick work in the pool combined with ab workouts (flutter kicks, situps, etc). So I did some hip flexor stretches and stopped the kick workouts, but it seems like its only hurting when I do abs. Specifically anything that involves lifting the leg, but i do feel it also during situps. I feel it where my leg meets my hip. Is this the psoas or is it possibly something else? How can I remedy this without taking too big of a step backward?

Couple of things.

Definitely sounds like a hip fllexor issue.
The major role of the hip flexors is it lift the thigh towards the torso.

The other thing is that if you want to do ab works thats fine, but situps are not the way to do it. Situps work the hip flexors (as above). The abs “compress” the spine (think of shortening the distance between the shoulders and hips) so if you want to work the abs you need to do crunches not situps.
