Help! Garmin 310XT says "Software Missing"?

So went for a run yesterday morning, downloaded file fine, battery was low so put unit into charger, take unit off charger last night and it begins beeping like mad and says “Software Missing”? Doesn’t respond to hard reset, sync, charge, or anything else I do. Basically dead except this message still appears.

I’ve emailed Garmin, but was hoping someone else might have experienced this problem before and thus be able to recommend a fix.

Thanks. I FINALLY got thru to Garmin via the phone and they say there’s no way to reload the firmware or connect with the device when it does what it’s doing. I have to send it back for an exchange. Good customer service, but I’m beginning to wonder if this device is all it’s cracked up to be…

I was thinking about getting one of these but after all of the negative posts on here I am reconsidering.
