I wasn’t thinking the other day and ended up with chain grease on the carpet. Anyone else have this happen? How should I clean it up?
In the past I’ve sprayed Simple Green - with the decreasing formula and Voila! White carpet too… Good luck!!
Folex Carpet Cleaner
.
Most carpet cleaners will pick that up. I severely abuse my carpet with grease and it always comes out.
Make a paste with Oxy-Clean

I have use spray electrical contact cleaner and had good results. It will get grease out of your clothes as well.
I have also had really good luck with the Oxy Clean Resolve carpet spray. I think the bottle is blue with some green accents. Works quite well.
Just happened to me last week and carpet cleaner just spread it out. Dawn dish soap worked like a charm!
+1 for Simple Green…keeps me out of trouble with my wife
.
That happened to me at christmas…check it out
Murphy’s Oil Soap works well. Available in any grocery store.
Zep Heavy Duty Citrus Degreaser - best stuff I’ve ever used!

I own a carpet cleaning business, and we get grease out every day. We use a product called Citrus Solv, but look for anything with “Citrus” in it. Be careful of all the Oxycleans and some of the other products that might have bleech in them, you will end up with a bigger problem. Hope this helps. Chad
Quick and cheap: Resolve carpet cleaner (or your grocery store’s equivalent). Got out grease that had been there for ~2 months.
Thanks guys, got it out

Why I love Slowtwitch-I’m going to buy something with citrus and not a bleach product to clean up my oops! in the new apartment.
Please update if you have a better solution to removing black chain grease from polyester, apartment-grade carpet.
I know this is an older thread but just some thoughts from when I used to be a carpet cleaner.
A lot of solvents will dissolve the backing on most carpets so if you are going to use a solvent, put some on a rag to clean the carpet, don’t pour it on and wipe it off.
There were dozens of times I would come accross a carpet that had a solvent poured on it. The tufts would come right off and get sucked up the hose leaving a bare spot on the carpet for me to explain. The owner didn’t always believe me

Thanks for the tip; I’ll pour on rag, not carpet.
Resolve works.
I suggest a good divorce lawyer : ) Cause you are in TROUBLE
