Unfortunately baggage handlers added insult to what was already a bad race (DNF) two months ago when I discovered my base bar had been broken!
I was wondering which of Profile Designs bars are compatible with the Plasma 5, the cheaper option the better please. Have been waiting for weeks for the official replacement from Scott to arrive (Profile Design make a special coloured bar for the Plasma 5) but it’s looking unlikely. Off to Europe for 10 weeks to race and train over there, leaving June 18 so need to get onto it pretty quick.

That’s the problem with proprietary bike parts. Can’t fix them quickly. Certainly can’t fix them with a couple of days notice at a race destination. My nosecone Shiv is exactly like that.

I traveled with the Scicon Aero Comfort to IMNZ and bck with no issues.
I think that the key is pulling the extensions out of the bars and securing them to the head tube/ fork. Otherwise you have a lever that may pull the screws out of the base bar under extreme pressure. I had no choice as I ride an XL, so the bike didn’t fit in the bag with the extensions on. I just marked their position, loosened the bolts and pulled them out of the basebar and secured them to the padding I had on the front end of the bike. I tightened everything up and put the straps on the pads and it worked fine.
Both Westbrook Cycles and Tredz in the UK have the positive rise base bar in stock and would ship to Europe. Would be worth contacting Westbrook direct as their in super tight with their rep and might be able to get the one you need.
