So I just got this picture from a friend of mine…I am the too tall guy in the Powerbar kit heading out of t1…they thought they had caught me with my aero helmet on backwards, took a second to realize it was the one way sign and not the tail of my helmet…
At the Naperville race this Sunday - I advised 5 riders before they left T1 - that they had their helmet on backwards— the one that really made me smile was the guy with the helmet with huge rear vents on the front - and the plastic security strap over his eyebrows-- we all make mistakes eh?
Still hasn’t figure out the flying squirrel and clipping his shoes in… I guess all those disc savings are worth it
I was so late to transition (cell phone died which meant no alarm clock in the am) that I was lucky to get everything set up…no time to clip and rubber band in the shoes.
Ha ha ha that looks for all money like you helmet is on backwards!
Whats with all the guy’s with no tops on?
No way you can race here in Oz with no shirt…although thats not a bad thing if you’ve seen me shirtless before!
RD can’t technically outlaw it unless they apply for a rules change from USAT. According to USAT rules it’s legal. Whenever RD’s tell you you can’t do it, it’s only because they’re trying to prevent the inevitable mount line disasters that result from the unpracticed attempts at the flying mount. A little intimidation on the part of the RD is enough to get most of the scrubs that cause the problems not to pre-clip the shoes…
Basically, if you don’t know that the RD can’t disallow the flying mount with pre-clipped shoes you probably shouldn’t be doing the flying mount anyway…

I understand this happening at a race, but I was walking down the new Pier in Brooklyn and there was a lady who was walking with her bike, while carrying her yoga mat in a bag, and the helmet was full on backwards. I also saw this on the West Side Bikeway in the middle of the day on someone that was just tooling around. I think bike shops are doing a disservice to these people letting em walk out the house looking like that.
I saw that…now, what I don’t understand is the sticker. Logic would seem to suggest that he put race number sticker on before the race at some point…this means that he just didn’t grab the helmet and put it on backwards in the rush of the moment…very weird
Also think he’s cheesing for the camera a bit…look at the guy behind him just looking calm and relaxed
This happens more than you would think…years ago (like '91) we had a guy join our club and show up on Saturday for the group ride. I had sold him a bike and helmet that week and he was all geared up and excited to join a team. Rolls up to us with his Giro Air Attack (remember those?) on backwards. Oh jeez…I approach him quietly and just said a discreet “You may wanna do a 180 on the helmet…”. Nobody else heard it, all very subtle. He said “oh yeah…right!” Went off to “warm-up” and we never saw him again.
Felt really bad for the guy and there was no reason for him to disappear. Nobody was mocking him or laughing, but he was just too embarrassed, I guess.

He should swap handlebars with the guy behind him. Would suit eachothers bikes better.
