Looking at buying a bike long distance outside ebay so save the ‘better watch out emails’
It’s a CraigsList bike, but the guy has receipts from Helen’s Cycles for the bike who has always worked on it, purchased there and built there.
If we agree I’m going to have him drop it off for an inspection, Hele’s will ship and then I will fire the money. Have done this 2 other times with LD Craigs List purchases and they went well. Have ‘heard’ of Helen’s, but don’t know of them. Had a buddy who lived in LA who used them while he was there and said they were ok.
Helen’s Cycles is a solid performer here in LA. They have 5+ locations but the heart is Helen’s in Santa Monica (26th & Broadway). There are two guys in the service department who are phenomenal and all the rest are good. Phenoms are Chris and Erick. Erick is arguably the best mechanic in LA (works on Zabriskie’s bikes with regularity). Helen’s has been in biz for a long, long time - primary lines are Trek and Cannondale but they also carry Cervelo, Wilier.

Great thanks! If this guy ends up doing the required drop off/inspection then I feel much better knowing about these guys. Just want to make sure there is nothing major like bb issues, frame cracks or major component snafus. Thanks!
