HED Jet 6/9 Everyday use

Hi I am thinking about getting HED Jet 6/9 combo for everyday use. Does anyone here use this combo or just Jet 60s as there everyday wheels? If so have you had any issues with durability. I am 5’10 160 so not a real heavy rider.

its 100% normal wheel

with a thin carbon sheet over part of it

only durability issues might be from debris marring or denting the carbon sheet
.

The wheels will hold up just fine. Your ego may not after taking all abuse for using really deep race wheels in training.

I bought a set of Ardennes (basically the Jet minus the fairing) for everyday use.

It had occured to me that 90 is pretty deep for everyday use and people would surely give me looks like wow what an idiot or wow thats cool looking. I was thinking about getting Cosmic Carbones, but if I can get HED Jets which are deeper for a similar price I dont see why not. To clarify these would be my only wheels period. I might do 4 or 5 tris a year. For that doesnt make any sense to me to have race only wheels, Im not that die hard.

you can prolly find training wheels for free if you really look around =)

My everyday tri bike training wheels are a set of Hed Jet 90’s clincher. I like nice wheels and don’t care what anyone says : )

The front is a new model 90 and the rear is an older Deep. I actually raced them this past weekend as they suited the tri course better then my race setup of BW100/Zipp disc. Having used them in training everyday, allowed me to trust the wheels and my handling of them at 40 mph down steep switchbacks and 50mph down a long steep grade in a crosswind during this race.

On the other hand I use a set of Bontrager RaceX Lite with a PT on my road bike for training.

I’ve needed to true me 90’s only once in about 2 years when using them nearly everyday. They were only barely out of true and most people wouldn’t have noticed.

Thanks fellas, knocked some sense into my head. I realized Ill probably have plenty of chances to use em in road race not just tris. Ill just have to get some training wheels.

Yeah, also there’s something to be said for getting really familiar with your race equipment. Using something like RacedayWheels.com seems risky to me since wheels really do change how a bike handles. And the Jets are awesome, and bombproof.
